New at serious MTB, want to get into competition and adventure racing, day or 2 for now.. san diego & CA...mostly trail runner now.

Have big gift certificate for REI:

Ghost FS7 (German made) (27.5 wheels, FS, nice components, 28lbs)
http://www.rei.com/product/881870/ghost-kato-fs-7-...

Cannondale F29 Carbon4 (29er, HT, 24lbs, remote lockout)
http://www.rei.com/product/877674/cannondale-f29-c...

Help? the HT or FS for 1-2 day AR? Generally folks recommend the lighter HT, but I am in CA, so could be some rough terrain.. I'm 5'9" & 185.. .crossfitter. THANKS!

Excuse my upcoming light humor....

If you are an accomplished mtb-er, the HT. But the FS will be more comfortable and likely more fun, up and down.

And how can you tell if someone does cross fit?
They tell you.

Hahahaha!

Thanks... I'm not one of those people! I did it with mil guys before it became "cool"

... only reason I mentioned was that I am generally a "strength" guy, so I am a lot heavier than the Ultra type... may lend more to FS...

4lbs diff between the FS and HT in my price range... is FS worth 4lbs?

Thanks!
