Interesting: "A new procedure for the AR World Championship will see teams go into “Lock Down” and prohibited from access to any electronic devices. Teams will not be permitted to obtain any outside assistance during this planning phase. The Lock Down will be followed directly by the race start at 1pm on Thursday 10 November."
Meet you back here!
Hm. Were there complaints during other races? Would this e-lockdown coincide with receiving the maps, I wonder?
Thetre has been a lot of talk about it on my podcast the last few weeks.

I wonder if they'll also place an embargo on the area surrounding the host site so local teams can't practice on the possible course? I recall this was done for the 2006 World Champs in Norway/Sweden after many complaints were received after the 2005 event where the RD spoke of "running into teams while testing sections of the course".
@randy - I know you're going to say 'listen to all of them' but is there a particular cast to listen to for the e-lockdown story?
I've a heap of catching up to do on your site.
I think I talk about it with Chris Forne.

Some teams used extensive aerial imagery at last year's XPD to improve the maps given out to them. Given the maps are pretty shit to begin with, I didn't see this being a problem. We didn't do enough 'improving' to our maps and only used aerials to confirm the tracks noted on the maps as being non-existent were actually not there. Unfortunately we encountered other tracks in the field that were also not there (or were in fact fence lines or tiny goat tracks). If the maps were accurate then I wouldn't have a problem with this.
I'm interested to see how this will be enforced. Will all teams be herded into a holding pen for the duration of map planning, up until race start?
