Experience Philadelphia as you never have before in this most un-urban of urban adventure races!
I am curious about the biking terrain. What type of bike is necessary (hybrid, mtb w/ suspension), and which might you call optimal? I ask because you mention a good amount of pavement could be involved, but there is also mountain biking.
And does this differ from the 5 and 12 hour versions? Does 12 hour have more technical riding?
Erik, my apologies, we were racing in Ireland when you posted, and I totally missed it.
There will be very little pavement in the entire race - just a handful of miles. For the 12-hour, much of it will be trails, with varying levels of technicality. You'll definitely want a true mountain bike. For the 5-hour, the riding will be easier, but still largely trail and gravel.
I've heard questionable things about the RDs for this race...such as rumors that they led a fellow team to believe Ireland was sunny and flat ;)
Strong Machine will be there! Can't wait and sorry we're missing the Stockville!
We're never going to live that one down, are we? :)
We'll miss you guys this weekend - can't wait to see you in December and hear about Nationals!
