USARA Board Announcement 2017-1
USARA·WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2017

Hello Fellow Adventure Racers,

In an effort to improve communication of USARA Board decisions to racers, the USARA will be releasing USARA Board decisions on the USARA Facebook page as well as posting them in the USARA newsletter and in the USARA News section of Adventure World Magazine.

As our first announcement, the USARA Board would like to announce approval of the following USARA program which would waive USARA racing license fees for short beginner friendly adventure races that are held in conjunction with longer adventure races. Events must meet the following criteria to qualify for the beginner adventure race license fee waiver.

1. Events must be 5 hours in length or less
2. The beginner adventure race must be run in conjunction with a longer adventure race (either on the same day or the same weekend)
3. The beginner adventure race must place a USARA welcome to adventure racing flyer in the racers bags
4. Race Director must complete a beginner adventure race license fee waiver application.

The USARA board believes this program will contribute to lower initial participation cost by reducing the financial burden placed on first time adventure racers which can be an entrance barrier to adventure racing. The welcome to adventure racing flyer will also give the beginner adventure racer information on where to find other adventure races as well as resources to help the beginner adventure racer prepare for longer events.

In addition, the USARA Board has heard the request and is currently developing a process that will allow for nominations and elections to the USARA Racer Advisory Board and the USARA Race Director Board. Look for an announcement defining the nomination and election process in the near future. Thank you,

Troy Farrar USARA
