Wow, so much cool info! Thanks for summarizing and sharing. 17 hours to lube a drivetrain?… I’m all for giving my bikes the maintenance love they need, but…. !
Check out that gear ratio!
There won't be any suspense anymore but if you have GCN, we enjoyed their coverage of the 1-hour record. I'd imagined us watching the introduction then hopping through the hour with fast forward until the final 10 minutes. As it turned out, we stayed glued to it all the way through because the commentators kept sharing cool facts and video clips about the attempt. I was interested by how carefully his team watched his body temperature and what a big role it played in his strategy.
Here’s an article on the tech Ineos fine-tuned.
https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/euro75k-per-hour-...Ganna’s gear was the biggest used in an hour attempt on an upright.
Streamlined recumbents use a much bigger gear- the hour record is 92.43k for men and 82.12 for women.
I don’t think I could ride that bike for much more than a kilometre.
Cool, I will have to check this out.
I didn’t know about the specific gear ratio but the difference between the front ring and rear cog looked significant!
