Scott, we're living up our group's name.
I still have a bone to pick with you about not wanting to draft during dusk to dawn. The survival of the team depends on both the individual and collective effort of the members. Even though you had to hit the brakes in order to stay in the draft, you were still receiving less wind resistance. Besides, even if you can go faster than the team, it doesn't necessarily do any good to go ahead.

You're right about a collective effort. That's why the bungie cords that Alpine Shop uses would be most beneficial. With those, the ratio of the lead person's extra force to the next person is close to one-to-one (minus the bungie effect). Whereas with drafting, we experience up to five pounds force in the backward direction that drafting probably reduces to, I'm guessing, three pounds. When we get over five pounds of drag force, we're most likely going downhill and need to spread out because of our speed. It still is beneficial, so I'll make a point to draft as often as possible next race.
Please cite your source(s) (5 pounds?) if you wish to make a point with me. I accept your concession, though.
