Discussion: Light leggings for summer races
in: Adventure Racing; General;
Curious to know what people would recommend for "leggings/tights" for summer adventure races. As much as I'd love to wear shorts I'd prefer not to finish with wolverine legs and poison ivy. During the fall and spring races I wear thinner Helly Hansen tights which work pretty well but they may be a little hot for 30c and humid races. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
AR in Ontario usually means off-trail bushwhacking. I wear lightweight tights, and since I usually get wet, it's not as hot as it sounds. Some people wear capris or shorts with compression calf sleeves for off-trail travel - a little more ventilation, a little less protection.
Thanks Bash! Does Salomon make lightweight tights? Good point about getting wet to keep cool. I am used to frigid spring runoffs so will appreciate a good dip or two if the opportunity presents itself.
Yup! They can be a little harder to find at this time of year so you'd want to check before you shop. I'd guess that Running Free would be the best bet since I think the Salomon Store is all shorts and capris right now.
I like Sugoi as well. They are really light, and so far have held up through a number of bushwhacks.
Sounds good. Will check out RF this week. Thx Bash and BiT!
We've been using The OMM Flash Tights as they are really light. Comes in 3 different lenghts.

I can confirm that the Salomon store is all shorts and capris right now. I need a new pair too. Have totally worn out my favorite light weight Salomon long tights.
Lol..I think I remember asking if you needed a new pair at STT WandAR. :) If I find some I will let you know.
Running Free has tights.

Another good place to find Salomon clothing off-season is their outlet store near Niagara Falls.
Just bought a pair of these:
http://www.underarmour.com/shop/ca/en/mens-ua-heat... The price was great ($50), they are quite light, and they did very well in the first long bushwhacking test. Light compression, didn't snag or tear getting caught on branches, etc., took the "edge" off of raspberry bushes and other prickly things, and seemed to dry relatively quickly. Bought them at Sport Check.
I just over-heat and then throw-up. I'm sure there's a better method, but this is what works for me.
lol. thanks for the advice everyone!
I use skins A400 tights. They are thin & breathable + multi purpose ..compression + protection !
