During a century ride this weekend I noticed at the pit stops that the foods on offer were mainly low fat foods - apples, oranges, bananas, carrots, baked chips, pretzels... etc. In ultra running I see more calorie dense foods at the stops - lots of high carb stuff like potatoes, regular chips, gummies. Bananas I get but do carrots actually offer any benefit during endurance events??

High glycemic index food - meaning, releases sugar into bloodstream quickly. (So quick in fact many diabetics have to avoid carrots)

Much like bananas, they taste the same coming up as going down... but better colouring :-)
