except for bends around impassable things like lakes. I often end up closer to the length in km => my length in miles on my gps.
It's a tough call for the MD, especially if he doesn't know you. I had a guy show up at 2 to run orange, I asked how long it usually took, etc. and said I would pull flags at 3:30. I think he was irritated when I pulled his last flag at 4 pm and he couldn't find it. But I also want to go home to my family. :-)
If you ran it with a pack (and I didn't know you), I wouldn't have let you start. Those AR folks always walk red. :-))))))))))
Nice run speedy! And I have your back anytime anywhere...
I should have gotten by butt out of the house earlier... but time ticks away so fast in the morning.
Funny you say that about AR people walking the red because the two groups I was referring to as leaving way before me and just coming in around the same time were both groups of adventure racers.
Thanks, Barbara! I felt pretty good at the finish, but after seeing how Jens did, I was not feeling like I was so speedy with it, after all. He totally destroyed me.
Beelining vs. course choice vs. "but look at that nice trail" is tough...
Next time I'll get there early and actually pre-plan my route instead of winging it out on the course. Ha!
I live at that park. If I had a major error, I would be huddled in a corner crying.
A fair test would be next week on Igor's new terrain, which I think will be all new to me.
I'd be there except I'll be in Virginia at the Rev3 Epic 26-hour. I'm going to be doing more of these in the future, for sure!
And if you ever need a place to stay...and I promise no smoke alarms, ha!
