Mr Wonderful:
I may revisit #9. I've screwed up there before as well so I should just figure out what everything means.

That's a good idea... like, going out there with the map and looking at every feature and identifying it on the map? I kept thinking I had gone too far when I had, in fact, not gone far enough.

actually, I think I kept finding myself too far to the South. It makes sense now, but I was in frustration mode at the time, which is never helpful.

I have had two legs where you sort of come across that terrain, and both times I've missed, overshooting SE.

I thought I would be able to string the two hilltops together and make it easy, but I didn't realize how low I was, and I should have been able to figure it out from the other stuff going down SE of the big hill with the control on it.

Standing out in an area reconciling features to map is something Waldo did during his formative years, so it must work alright!

Also, you seemed to be moving well. You picked up that game trail near #6, and poof were out of site.

Thanks! When I have my eye on exactly where I need to go, I'm golden. That's been my focus. I need to keep up with my teammates on foot. Not sure you know, but they can MOVE off trail and I usually have to focus on just keeping up. Now I just need to be able to nav and move fast at the same time. Big features as you see in other states tend to help with that.

Michigan is awesome practice. I'm looking forward to big feature rogaine season - like shootin' fish in a barrel.
