I thought I was "better enough" but I guess not… the first mile tricked me too! Yeah, I guess this means I have to do another one at some point.

Seriously, though, do people really deserve a finisher's medal just for making it 5K? It's not really a REAL accomplishment. I feel like finishers medals should only be for things that take a true commitment of time and training - Marathons and longer. Anything shorter and I only want a medal if I place.

Ain't nothing wrong with 5ks. It's all about vdot. It's more impressive to see a 17:30 5k than a five hour marathon. My wife respectfully disagrees with me, but the fast 5k person runs more than your average marathon finisher.

Thanks guys. I agree that 5Ks are good races, but I don't want a medal unless I place. The average 5K runner runs MUCH less than the average marathoner. You can't compare elite/fast vs average.

Now, I guess… a Turkey trot to try again?

Yeah! Try another. Good attitude. I just had a text conversation with Jens about this.... how slow my 5ks have been recently. I am gonna try for a turkey trot myself.
