So I am convinced that in order to excel at Worlds this year some serious altitude acclimatization is necessary. With limited time to spend in Quito (9,000 feet) pre race I have been looking into getting an altitude tent to sleep in before the race. It isn't cheap even with a partial sponsorship! I have been talking to Hypoxico. Looking for any advice on the various brands of tents out there. Not looking for advice on altitude training / acclimatization. Thanks!
Frankenjack and Spaff are a couple of people who have used tents.
Here's is Spaff's blog post on his Altitudetech tent. He also logs on AP.

Olympic coach Barrie Shepley, who lives in our neighbourhood, likes Altitudetech too.

What Randy said....
http://www.trainingmask.com/. But use it sleeping. Though it would scare the *&!#% out of the person you wake up next to.
I've seen them pop up used from time to time on
www.letsrun.com/forum/ .
Slowtwitch classifieds have had a few used ones as well. That gets them into the $1k-$1.5k range.
craigslist.
bought mine when I lived in Boulder from a 50 yr old guy who just finished racing bikes and clumbing. he was moving on. paid around 1400. full tent system.
sold it for profit to an ncaa's 800m runner from another state who drove 10 hrs to pick it up.
there are deals to be had if you look.
When rowing I used the Altitudetech set-up...I don't know much about other brands, but it was easy to use the generator for both the sleeping tents and then quick switchover for the masks while training.
I can ask my old coach if he's selling any of his tents and generators. Let me know if you'd like me to.
