You might try some heel lifts. They made a night and day difference for me. I'm pain free currently and transitioning back to no lifts.

I have them, but stopped using them after 2 weeks because they were annoying - I could feel the edge. You make me think, though... I do have a less obtrusive pair that I put under the insole of my classic ski boots. Maybe that would be the right thing for just a little help.
I should have called someone about riding yesterday. Maybe it would have helped me in the enthusiasm department.
I have to put them under the insole too or they bother me too much.
I added them under my insoles yesterday and they felt good, so we'll try them for Thunder Rolls.
