The 2014 LighterKnot AR continues its exploration along the east coast of Florida. What started in 2008 at Tomoka State Park has predominately traveled north visiting many pristine rich cultural areas of Florida through the magic of adventure racing.
We're taking on a new venue again this year at Faver-Dykes State Park along the banks of Pellicer Creek.
Race where the Timucuan Indians first settled around 500 B.C. and lived in villages close to Pellicer Creek. Experience the rich long leaf pines, cooling hammocks and spreading marshes that engulf the 1,450 acres of park.
Wildflowers and ferns thrive under the canopy which provides habitat for the area's native wildlife including white-tailed deer and river otters. There are many birds in the park, including bald eagles, falcons, and hawks, as well as egrets, wood storks, white ibis, turkeys, and herons.
The course will be designed by John and Craig Sheriff once again and they have a knack for finding the neatest spots to take you through. Rest assured they will give you a great tour of this area during the event.
October is a great time of year to be outside in Florida. The dog days have come and gone and the worst of Winter has yet to appear. Everything is always inline for a perfect day with us.
