I humped the new plastic beast down to the canal. I figured I had to get out for a paddle for two reasons: 1) as I managed to paddle December 1st, I skipped only January for paddling and 2) the vehicle ramp that the trucks use to drive onto the ice during the skating days is still there. Once that is removed I'll wait until they fill the canal until I can paddle again (it is about a 2-3m drop depending on where you are).
I was only able to paddle from the vehicle ramp to just short of Mackenzie-King bridge and it just got too shallow. On my 2nd loop, I only went to Laurier as that was the start of the really shallow part. I tried to break myself a path going further upstream from the vehicle ramp, but the ice was solid from shore to shore. Hehe, it was fun paddling hard beside the ice along the straight-aways and hear the swish of the waves underneath it :)

Yep, I have been logging commuting as intensity 3 since I took White Lightening out of storage. I feel like I can lean down on the pedals without feeling like the bike is going to break beneath me. I can also resume track stand rehearsals without fear of bending a wheel!

Wow, that actually felt pretty good. My gosh has running ever been transformed ever since I acquired that iPod and 2-min loaded it up with quality songs. I like the range from motivating lyric-free beats all the way to Flight of the Conchords!
I picked it up a little tonight and it finally felt good!

Decided to return the rental car at lunch which made for a very warm ride! I caught someone on video cutting me off on my bike, but he realized his mistake and apologized so I figured it wasn't worth posting.
Admittedly I was a little bummed on Friday as finally riding with a computer again made me realize how slow I was moving. Well the stern wind was at my back today and ooee did that ever feel nice!

We started a little chilly as the wind was really piercing and we were pretty damp/wet from the night's rain. Once we got hiking and moved away from the lake, we really got warm! The whole trip I was wondering where Spaff's travels take him in the park. Lo and behold I see a yellow jacket come around the corner up ahead and I knew instantly who it was! Nice to see him and moving well.
What a nice birthday weekend it was!
