Omeet at Willow River State park.
Pretty tired from the day before and could feel it on the hill climbs. Had a few minor errors that cost a few minutes and dropped a minute or two on a presumably misplaced control #13.
Kept plugging away and the legs started to feel better on the run back downhill from #13 to the finish. It was a really close race amongst the leaders on a course that had a few too many suspect controls and mapping issues for my liking.
Glad to see so many folks out on such a nice day. Maybe not so nice when running hard on an O course, but nice for hanging out post race!

Almanzo 100 gravel ride w/Tom. The two of us took the Bullet down to Spring Valley with Monica, a solid contender for the 162-mile Royal.
Tom and I did the ride together and paced ourselves well. We were able to keep a solid pace throughout. The hills were tough and areas of really loose gravel were a challenge as well.
Both of us were spent and on the verge of cramping on the last two climbs. Luckily we never had to dismount and hike, so we rode the entire way. Results are yet to be posted, but likely in the top 10% would be my guess.
Monica had a great ride and dominated the Royal as the first place lady, but less than 5 total in that category. What is really awesome is that she pulled down 3rd place overall, only getting beaten by 2 dudes. And she averaged a faster pace than Tom and I, racing 62% further. WOW - Really impressive!
