1. | Hesitated a little at the strt, doublechecking to make sure I had the right map, wasn't making a 180, etc.
2. | |||||||
3. | Almost caught up to Jan Urban
4. | |||||||
5. | +00:20 | Almost back to #1, while Jan cut the corner a little. Passed just south of exchange area, and missed control to the south by 10 m or so -- Jan got it, and I had to turn back.
6. | Jan took the trail, I went straight, and gained a bit.
7. | +00:40 | Maybe not the ideal route choice, but not too bad. Took a hard left around the cliffs, and down the reentrant to the creek, then up the spur to attack from the SE. As I went down the reentrant, I glanced up and saw Jan trapped on the big cliffs of the spur.
8. | Around to the left, on the edge of the bare rock. Mark Voit catches up at the control.
9. | Keeping up with Mark, we took an all-trail approach, again almost back to to #1, and attacked from the NE.
10. | +00:20 | Mark seemed to be ging too far right, down the streambed, and I got a little confused, and briefly went too far to the left. I looked back and saw Jan coming, then decided that I need to go further east. When I did, I came upon the control.
11. | Straight on in, past the corner of the parking lot. Disappointed to not see Mark in the chute; I had hoped he hadn't pulled that far ahead.
F. | People were calling out that I was second, and I thought they meant that Mark was already in. After I finished, I learned that it was Bruce Wolfe who had come in a few minutes earlier, and that Mark wasn't back yet. He and Jan came in about three minutes later. |
