Stole Alex's distance and climb because my watch stopped itself in the middle of my run. Straight line was 8.-something, I think.

I was tired! Not super dead, my legs were just dragging.

Straight line 3.9k.

Two races down! I had no idea what to expect for this race, so I focused on my process goals. My resting heart rate was a bit high, but I was encouraged by how I felt yesterday and decided not to worry about it.

Goals:

1. I had a moment of panic on one of the model controls yesterday where all the reentrants looked the same, so I decided it was really important to keep a clear picture of the leg in my head the entire time. If I couldn't visualize myself as a point/blotch on the map, I'd stop and figure things out.

2. Angelica was starting 2 minutes ahead of me and Alex was starting 2 minutes behind me, so I thought it would be a good time to work on ignoring people. Every time I saw someone, I wouldn't look at who it was. I didn't see either of them on the course, but I still thought about other people less than I did last season.

I succeeded in both! Most of my time lost was probably from hesitation, and then I lost a little on number 3 from drifting downhill and correcting to the form-line hill I should've been on. And then I rolled my ankle and stopped to try to tighten my brace more (unsuccessfully). Tomorrow I'll tape underneath.

It was a good race!

Having the splits automatically show up makes it ridiculously easy to log. So I'm back on track!

This was a pretty clean run. Also, looking at the time, about 6:50/mile, I feel a lot better about my current fitness. (More incentive to log!) I'm getting a lot better at staying in contact and knowing when I need to stop and figure things out. All my mistakes came from hesitation (~25 s) and route choice stuff (20-30 s). I think I have a lot of room to improve in being economical with my map-looking and in visualizing my exits as I'm coming in. Those are the kinds of things I don't notice when I'm jogging a CSU training! Maybe I should do some of them harder.

Running (mostly hard surfaces) warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.11 mi (9:00 / mi)

Trying on Zan's Inov8's! I need to get more:)

Model event with Alex! We did memory-ish things. Felt good to get in the woods.
