Hiking 3:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (25:43 / km)

hiking up along the Bruce Trail in Tobermory...great scenery ...not sure of exact distance - approximate...we stopped a few times for snacks, grotto climbing, pictures, but feel we kept a good pace throughout...fun time on a little weekend getaway!

Adventure Race race 1:15:00 [3] 20.0 mi (3:45 / mi)

Times and distance are approximate...

What started off as a bit shakey (oops I forgot to rent a kayak!! - luckily a tandem team had dropped out) turned out OK. We started off very strong and were in first place out of all the tandem teams in the Kayak section. I was super proud of how hard we pushed for the paddle, we beat our goal time which is a great way to start the first leg.

Unfortunately due to lots of rain and stormy conditions, the race was called off after the paddle section so Escondido and I made the best of the rest of the day and like many others, decided to ride our bikes back to the finish line from the Transition Area.

After claiming all our gear and making sure our giant boat had made it's return, we decided to head back into the rain since we were already drenched to the bone and run to the spiral staircase and back. It was definitely slippery on the rocks and we took our time climbing up and down the staircase. Glad we did it - got to see some of the course and get some more exercise.

We waited around for the afternoon, and saw some of the long course competitors come in which was cool and also some of the little kids which was pretty cute. Also really nice chatting with some other racers and supporters.

Uncontrollable circumstances with the weather, but the organization of the event was very well done and no doubt would have been a fun race if the entire course had gone on...guess there's always next year!

Running 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

time and distance are approximate...very hilly run and without drinking much water over the previous 3 days, was really feeling wiped and knee felt a bit of pain ascending the 2nd last hill, so walked the rest - approximately 1k left in the total route at that point.

Overall, happy with the run considering not feeling 100% full of energy. Afterwards felt really drained and dehydrated.

LOVED my new shoes though!
