I had the honor of steering for a 9-man race, which is really rare for a first year paddler. We were actually down 1 person, so we only had 8. It was tough on the team plus they were doing longer times between changes (30 minutes) when 20 minutes would have been better. Since I steered, I was in the whole time. Definitely felt my core by the end. Ok, actually whole body sore.
