At Yellow Dog for 40 minutes...eep.
Some notes for future reflection....
I was totally surprised that I only ate about 2000 calories on this ride, and mostly because I had a couple of sandwiches I could eat on the long wait for Todd to pick up Joe at Yellow Dog. For the day, I had 24 oz of Skratch, a bottle and 3 liters of water in my pack. I was remarkably comfortable, and felt pretty good the whole day. I think my better process for fueling (when possible) is a little bit here and there, with the goal of something substantial at a 6ish hour interval (again, if possible).
Also, on the 225ish crusher, I am remembering that I didn't drink much overnight. In an XPD race, keeping drinking even if not thirsty is super important. And, pouring coke in a water bottle was an awesome idea.
And, on the gnarly 2 tracks, the edges are my friend. Walking v steep inclines is a good idea, but I mount my bike so slowly.
Learning so much this summer, I don't want to forget it.
