Silver Lake Red by Jess.

Despite hosting here last fall I was sucked in the wrong direction numerous times in some tricky spots. Really enjoyed the course despite some shakey navigation and rather green and pokey woods.

1 - trail S to keep my feet dry for now, probably slower than through the swamp
2- climbed the first hill all the way before realizing I needed the smaller second one
3 - Decided to go N around the swamp since the side hill wasnt that fun then somehow ended up going E instead of S and got to the road (and wet feet). Jogged the road and trail, but very inefficient distance wise.
4 - bush bash straight using the ridge as a catch
5 - trail
6 - trail to the N
7 - Biggest error. Got pushed W by unmapped greenery. Since it was so green I assumed I was E so walked W and eventually saw a swamp and had to correct. The silly part is I think I was at the right depression the first time just didnt see the flag!
8 - Terrible choice to go S. I thought it looked slightly easier navigationally. Took the power lines, which was fine, but when I cut in it was not only green, but the swamp came all the way up to the private property. Tried to skirt it but when i ended up almost waist deep in the uncrossable swamp I bailed and came back S and ended up jumping three fences to get back in the park. Once I was on the hill W of the swamp I got to 8 no problem.
9 - trail around, cut in from the depression. Slightly mis-placed but i didnt even notice
10 - seemed slower to get to the hill, probably because 9 was S of where it was supposed to be.
11 - caught up to Tom.
12 - intended to go to teh trail, but it was so thick I ended up going straight. There was an extra small swamp besides the one mapped one on the way.
13 - trail to hill, skirted hill N and then side hilled until the gully. a few un mapped small gullies.
14 - trail to hill, almost took the first hill S to the wrong swamp, but quickly realized and corrected. could have been faster if I made better use of the trail.
F - road to trail to parking lot. Probably should have gone straight through the swamp

1 big error, 2 additional silly errors. the back half of the course cleaned up and made up some time. Felt pretty good jogging trails and open woods, slowed going up hill and through the thick stuff.

Went out on Orange about 5 minutes after finishing red to train for those long blue courses. Mostly felt like a drunk zombie most of the time, stumbling, tripping, glazed eyes. But hey, good training I suppose.

1-2 easy
3 - road to trail and then took the first spur on the wrong side of the swamp -_-
4 - never found the faint trail but followed the features fine
5 - got sucked too far down the hill towards 6. Took a pretty hard faceplant on the way
6 - easy since I had already almost been there
7 - huge error. Took the trail and followed the first ridge E, but got sucked down the N side and couldnt see the flag over the ridge. Went back to the trail and attacked along the second ridge. never realized i had already been there on red...
8 - easy
9 - easy, already there
10 - easy road run
11 - remembered this spot from hosting, still hesitated a little
12 - easy
F - same route to the finish. that swamp must scare me

Loop 1 with Syd, W4J, and Cris. Three wipe outs. Mostly from poor focus and in areas when Cris was pushing the pace a little bit.

Loop 2 with just Syd. Took it a little slower. 0 wipe outs. Legs were feeling it by the end.
