Went over to Marshall Park for a short trail run. Mud, hills and tired legs made for a slow run.

Couldn't pass up the warm weather! The roads were sooo muddy though. Fun ride, cleanup afterward not so fun. My toes got cold on the way back, should've worn a thicker pair of socks.

Orienteering race 2:08:27 [3] 7.09 mi (18:07 / mi) +318m 15:54 / mi

GNC Extreme-O Long

Fun race to wrap up our weekend of orienteering. All kinds of navigation: different scale o-maps, usgs maps, corridor-o, maps with blanks/missing trails, aerial photographs, bearings, plotting. Switched every few controls, so it kept it interesting.

Mr. W started 2 min ahead and BF 5 min behind, so the race was on. My legs were feeling the past few days, so I started out at a nice leisurely pace. BF caught up faster than I was hoping, so then I had to start moving. Stayed within sight of him for quite a while, we both caught Mr. W at 16. I then made a 90 degree error exiting the next control - weird - and lost both of them. Didn't see them again until the finish.

Had to carry an egg for about 2/3 of the race. I was doing great, carried it in my hand for most of the time and then placed it in my plastic baggie to swim/cross back from the island. I was within sight of the finish, slipped on my way down into a creek bed....and broke the egg. Nooooo. That was a 5 min penalty and secured the win for Mr. W (although I'm pretty sure he had me anyway). Enjoyable race, fun format, and not nearly as bad as it was hyped up to be.

Hiking 2:00:19 [2] 4.39 mi (27:24 / mi) +299m 22:37 / mi

Rounded out the weekend with a hike up Stone Mountain. Fun hike with a nice view of Atlanta from the top. And then checked out the stone carving from the bottom.
