Thought I'd add some suspense to the record attempt by running th final leg after spending the night and day dealing with what I think was some food poisoning. Protip: avoid Indian buffets the day before a big race.
I had a pretty big buffer going into this thanks to my speedy teammates, but the way I was feeling anything could've happened. First 8-10 k felt decent, but then things turned south quickly. The remainder was an epic struggle to try to hold some kind of pace and not blow it for the team. Having not really eaten since lunch on Friday, my legs and body felt weak and heavy.
The long steady downhill that lasts for about 3k towards the end of the loop definitely helped me out. And knowing that Trav would be waiting for me somewhere on the last hill up to the finish line helped with a final kick that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
