Running race 1:11:00 [3]
5 miler (and change) at Run Woodstock. I wanted to do a distance that wouldn't compromise my ability to have fun with my friends (many of whom I hadn't seen in three years since I was last there in 2019) and that I felt prepared for. The event is at a different venue from the last time I was there (I went in 2017-2019) so the course was all new to me. It was a fun mixture of double and singletrack.
I had the same issue here though that I did at Sulphur Springs with my heart rate spiking before the race even started and being too high to be sustainable for much longer than a distance like this. I am pretty sure it's just nerves, as my AHR on my morning runs is usually in the 120s. I likely just need to do a few more races until they feel 'normal' again and not so anxiety producing!
