trekking (My Marcy) 11:50:00 [3]

Michelle Patty Meg and I decided to plan a trip to Lake Placid months ago and enjoy a girls weekend away
Dee gave me the maps so we reviewed in advance and thought we would start hike from Adirondik lodge and take Heidelberg trail but after arriving In Keene at Keene Valley lodge we saw signs for another route right behind our accommodations.
The summit via the Johns Brook Trail from the Garden parking north of the mountain in Keene Valley is an 18-mile (28.8 km) round trip, which made sense to us especially with an early start planned.

The trek looked a little more difficult than the originally planned trek from Adirondack lodge but we decided to avoid drive and take trail in our backyard.

We started from Garden Parking lot and realized I had left map in lodge so we're prepared to go back and get but Meg was able to get one from a kind man starting out on trail.

We trekked to John Brook lodge and were told the best route would be to stay on the yellow trail then head left on red trail ( where falls were) up to the summit and if we wanted a loop best option would be to go North on Heidelberg trail then follow yellow trail back. Unfortunately we past the red trail intersection and took the yellow straight up which was quite steep in sections, technical and definitely longer than other option which made for a longer ascent. Alot of the trail felt like we were climbing a riverbed which made me question if we had missed a turn more than a couple of times but I soon learned this was the terrain.

The top was beautiful and we were lucky with the weather that we had great views and it really was the perfect weather and no bugs!!!

Our decent was quicker coming down as we ventured down the red trail that we had planned to come up on and it was definitely a better choice.

A few times we were not as far as I thought we were on map and almost took a few wrong turns but safely made it back to John brick lodge then on to Garden parking lot.
We all had different paces at different times during the hike but we had some good laughs great training and an awesome weekend
Highly recommend !!!

AR Race 4:15:00 [3]

Hike division race with Mr.Gally Jacob and Emma
We were a little late for start and ended up jumping in boats and right in to the start of race which had Jacob quite annnoyed and kept me very entertained trying to steer boat with him thrashing away his paddles trying to catch up
Jamie and Emma set us a good pace and we tried to weave our way in between boats up and back the river
On to bikes and up to first trek which was uneventful until Emma asked for tow from me and Ended up taking a bad wipeout which caused her to twist her knee
Some tears and trouble walking which had me a bit concerned but she said she would try the bike and see how she felt at next trek
Kids did great on bike learning about the value of a pace line and they really enjoyed the technical sections
Emma was still limping a bit in second trek but seemed much better and was eager to finish the race!
Final bike in we had some good laughs and kids were very good on this stretch most likely focused on the end and the food they would get:)
Such a great way to spend Mother's Day participating in my favourite sport with my family. Only down side is we missed Jerrick but we will get him out there next year hopefully! Special thanks to Patty , Browner and DD11 who really helped by encouraging our kids in course!!

AR Race 6:30:00 [4]

Really fun to race as a couple for Storm race
Enjoyed running with Bent for a bit of first trek then second half with Ripken
Bike was fun with mix of trail and great trails and some good wet sections which made it feel like a true AR race
Second trek was smooth even when Mr Gally took me for a short dip in pond by accident :)
Final bike kept leap frogging 2 solos and a male team of four
We worked with third solo male and paced lined in to final paddle where we were not sure where we stood overall but super pleased to see Chad come back up river in record time and then only one other solo male making us third overall and first coed which was a great feeling.
Really enjoyed layout of course and all of Storm and his awesome team planning and great work to make it such a great day
