AR Race race 4:05:00 [4]

I am logging this as an AR race as it was in my mind!

Did Summer solstice with friends and Mr.Gally - was quite the night! Rained and the muddiest conditions I have seen ever in any race! When my friend Renee came in off the second lap she looked frazzled and I said to myself this is one of her first races, good for her ..how bad could it be? Wow pushing bike right away through thick mud - AR experience definitely kicked in here ! Many riders where complaining already and I was sort of chuckling as gave me a chance to pass. First 3-5 km was really slow and then finally got to ride with the odd good wipe out!

We went through our full rotation of five then Jamie went out again coming back looking like he had been out mud wrestling and he told Renne our next rider (again very new to this) that it was fun and that he had a good lap and people were just walking now...Renee got ready to go and I walked her up , wished her luck and half an hour later she was back at our campsite with our computer tag saying many people were dropping out and the conditions were really bad - it was my turn and we could continue the lap and start again which I did (just making our lap time much longer...) went out and WOW good times! I felt like I was at a cheap spa with lots of mud and steam all around me. It was the toughest " hike a bike" I have ever done for over 2 hours....riders that were still out there had either a really good sense of humour or where not happy at all and let EVERYONE around them know about it! I was very happy to come in to the finish - I remember a marshall telling me 200 metres left and you are done - wow I felt like I was pulling dead weight through the thickest mud I had ever seen. Was really excited to hear Mr. Gally and my teamates encouraging me. I then found out that the race had been shortened to a 12 hour race and that my lap was the final one. I must say the beer that was passed to me was DELICIOUS especially mixed with a bit of mud.

My kids did the kids bike race and loved it as well as the jumping castles that they finally got to bounce in when the long awated sun came out on Sunday.

Good organization at this race just tough to deal with Mother Nature!

Good to see Bash, Bent , Rocky and Sarah out there (congrats to them second in their division - nice work)
I look forward to doing it again when it is a little less wet!
