Running 21:12:00 [4] 101.0 km (12:36 / km)

This was by far the most spectacular race for scenery, beauty and challenging mountains!
Chamoniex was alive with racers the minute I arrived right up to the end
There is so much support and excitement for this race in the towns and on the course.
I was also glad that my friend and supporter Meg finally arrived a day after me after being told she could not fly with a passport that expired in less than three months. She was fantastic to still come and was an amazing support and friend to me during the race. It was also really great to get to know Wanda and Marta better two fantastic ladies!!
Waiting for my wave to go at the start was awesome listening to the Italian, French and Swiss anthems which would be the three countries we would run through.
Bent was in wave behind me but I was very sure he would catch me soon enough as my plan was to go out very conservative especially with the biggest climb of both courses starting us off. I have never been in such a conga line up a mountain before or seen so many runners start a race (approx 1900 in ours).
I think what made this race so special and enjoyable was the stunning scenery and people around (racers, support and fans)
This was the first ultra where I really had no lows to talk about at all only highs the entire race!

Bent and I paced each other for the race after he caught up to me and we had a good rhythm going. I felt there were times too where I could have gone faster but kept it conservative to be safe.

The people in the towns were amazing cheering us on many by name and your country.

I even thought a heard of cows with bells in the dark were people out to Cheer us on! Richard clued me in on this right before I had to pass a few of them carefully on the trail.
Few things can make a human feel so small but these mountains can!!
Their beauty stopped me many times even for a few pictures and texts which I never would have done in the past.

We came up to Tiny some time in the middle of race when he was having a down moment but we were confident he would bounce right back which he did.
I really enjoyed the TA's food was a little different than our races pasta cheese salami, crackers but all very good the only thing I would carry extra would have been chips.

Bent and I kept pace steady throughout race especially when he started feeling sick but he was a trooper and pushed on hard every time.

It was great to have Tiny catch up with us recovered and we decided to finish off the race together. We were all amazed to look up and see what looked like stars in the sky on last climb with all the racer headlamps.

My quads started to shut down on last decent and the boys could have gone but agreed we should all come in together which was awesome!
It felt great to cross the finish line with two fellow canadian ar racers and friends.
Wanda came in looking strong and happy with people, cheering her on!
We were sorry to learn that Storm was out of big race but glad to know he was okay. Also sorry when Barb stopped but it was great to spend time with all these great fellow ar racers and friends.

I remember Dee telling me before I left to stop and look around and take it all in during this race and I sure did I will never forget this fantastic race and experience!
