Running 11:30:00 [4]

Great fun with great ladies but course was definitely not as advertised
We had fun touring Dublin and headed north to race course after 24 hours in Ireland. Audrey took the responsibility of driving us ladies to our destination which was more difficult driving on the opposite side of the road! She was a champ!
We had an awesome drive along coast up to Dublin with a very picturesque lunch!
Race day only 16 competitors on 100 km course which ended up being 109 km maybe foreshadowing what was to come...
Started off on road out of beach and more road and more road oh boy....... Maybe 6 -8 km of trail .....and more road it was all road!!! Caught up with Audrey she was ahead and waited so we could run together) and we stuck together which was great as this was clearly going to be a loooonng race! Both of us felt quite beat up when we got back to start of 50 km race having done What we thought was 50 but actually was about 60 km already completed for us
The first half was also tough for both of us dealing with some GI issues ...... Not sure what caused this...
Mostly on road.
The second half was much nicer views than the previous road run but our legs had taken a beating and it was catching up
The cut offs did not make sense to us as the lead males were just making them by an hour so we felt they were very aggressive
We were really happy to see Dee and Shannon looking strong on 50 km course and we learned that we would soon hit another section of road yay !!!!
We also learned that Wanda was feeling the same way as us.
Audrey and I were on a mission to get this done but took a wrong turn via the yellow signs which we
were told to follow to the Causeway Crossing which we thought was a turnaround ..... We went down then saw the causeway and started to climb out curious why we had not yet seen aid station until we ran in to photographer that told us we had missed seeing the castle section of the course but he said that we could take bus back out to where we made error on signs (which in our defence was poorly marked). Audrey made sure bus stopped for us which was probably the funniest part of race as after we boarded the passengers were all yelling "CHEATERS" we were trying hard to keep our composure but made the bus clear that we were not cheating and had been given permission to get back on course
We found markers leading to castle which seemed again much farther than we were told ( which it was) and Audrey went straight to castle and I followed ...
We asked if any one had seen racers come through and no one had.... So again back we went to the road and carried on in right direction and
we found TA .
It was at this point we knew our race was done, cut offs were far too aggressive and our legs were fried from our extensive road running.
We all agreed cut offs were very silly, course was not at all what we expected and although Ireland was beautiful on coast we would not repeat this race series but Great laughs , fun and unforgettable experience!
