Snowflakes Adventure Race has grown steadily and it was largest multisport sprint event held in Finland 2012.
200 teams in 3 categories. Basic, Medium and Pro.
Thou it has been low level competition so far, Pro category offered some nice racing this year.
First section was run+paddle+run.
Paddling was 6,1k and run all together was 1,6k.
We were leading the race after this section.
Once we moved to bike section, 39,7km, we started strong.
Bike felt good, thou the route did not offer longer technical sections.
We did mistake on second bike cp as we were looking it 10-20 meters too early and we lost about 3 minutes in there. After bike section we were 2nd place.
We had a slow transition, like 1 minute or so, simply too much.
On first orienteering/run section (9,7km) I truly felt trail marathon from last weekend in my legs. It took a while to warm up. We did a mistake with cp4 and cp5, as we run straight to cp5, skipping the cp4. Bummer... out from the podium for sure as we had to return to cp4 and continue to cp6.
We were 6th team to arrive next transition, race continued with short coastaleering section, 1,25km.
On last orienteering/running (6,7km) section we felt quite ok, and managed to gain 5th place at the overall results.
Anyway, great day for racing and orienteering was hard on running sections.
Planning the route.
Leading the race after paddling.
To transition, paddle to bike.
Route was fast and not very technical.
Boulder parkour at first quest.
And having fun on second quest.
