Out around Palgrave West with Bash & Bulletdog. Some hard trail breaking, but some glorious tracks with great grip and glide. One of the best skis of the year. Met lots of 2 and 4 legged pre-hockey fans.

some dumbell and core stuff in front of the men's 50K. Another best-ever by a Canadian Male XC skier- so close tothe podium. I also got in a few sets of lat work before the game, but no shoulders.

Great hard slog around Palgrave West with Bulletdog in a winter wonderland.
Nothing like breaking trail in deep heavy snow for a good workout!

Short ski as we were off to the Outdoor Adventure Show (No AR booths at all) and then back to watch Parallel Slalom, Team Long Track and 4 man Bobsled with Slowrunner and the Inglewood mob of 5 humans and dogs. Woo hoo!

Nice cooler temps and lots of glide today. Bulletdog needs a day off though- I had to wake her up for breakfast.

Workout #2 plus an easy 50+60 pu, a few sets of chins, and some core in front of the Olympics.
Right shoulder's sore- time for Thumbs of Death (and maybe back off on the pushups).

Lotsa snow out there. Bulletdog was insane.

The waxless skis were icing up last night so I took the backcountry beasts out with their old grip tape. Talk about grip! Bricks accumulating under there. I spent a lot of time scraping them off on logs, rocks and steel.

I met V02Max, and clumped along beside him on the Charlevoix loop (which his family owns) . I actually ran up the Lookout hill far ahead of him, thanks to my invincible grip. I'll never ski up a hill faster than him again!
Met Bash out there too.

Deepest snow of the year so we detoured through the Charlevoix trail.
Skied in Bash's tracks, and saw Slowrunner set a great set of tracks for the snowshoe and hikers too.

Workout #1 and assorted piddling around doing core etc while watching the Ski- Cross.
Also got in 10+20+ 80 pushups. The 100's getting a little closer.

Snowshoe Raid with Eugenius. He'd warned me that his knee was so bad he could barely walk and I might want to find another partner, but we actually raced pretty well, between decent nav and a bit of teamwork. We were ahead of sched at the 2hr mark and added a couple of controls to our plan. Unfortunately the snow was softer on the way back and we just didn't have the wheels. We had to hammer the last road run but were 3 minutes late and lost 40 points, knocking us down to 870 (and 2 places overall). Winners Griz and Turbo had 970.

Kudos to Leanimal and PGB- kicking butt 3 days after a huge race in Ecuador, and Bash and Coach LD coming in behind them in second.

Note

I'd heard from my Snowshoe Raid partner Eugenius that his knee has been so bad for the last week that he wasn't even able to walk well. Last night I got the call that he's back to walking so we're on, even if we don't run much during the Raid.

Really nice ski in Palgrave West with Bash and Bulletdog. Gorgeous sunshine, fairly decent snow in most spots, and we went all over the place.

Bulletdog's a little slower today than the maniac ski partner I had yesterday.

Brutal session today- Caron's special "hard, harder, #$%@! hardest".
She seemed to hit some of the most painful stuff possible, other than a fairly easy plank section. I was almost ready to quit one set.

More of the same theme- lots of stuff that I had to modify because of my knee, or it hurt deep in my lower back. Not sure how much I got out of it today.

Getting up there on the push-ups, but 100 in 1 set is still going to hurt.

Thomass Scanlon Creek.

I started off running well but having a hard time reading the map, especially the faint trails. I was leapfrogging Hammer a bit- silly errors kept knocking me back - ran with him to 2, then decided I'd rather make my own errors than play follow-the-Wadd. I was still with the leaders into the second box, then had a total train wreck going from H to I.

A small parallel error ended up with me completely disoriented, passing A and thinking it was 7, then punching 8 instead of I after a long search in the wrong field, then back to A instead of 7 (Read the control # this time), then finally to the real "I" then 7 after a 21 minute split, then back to 8 and 9.

Another "from hero to zero" race but a nice day out anyway.

Most of workout #1, but a bit tired so I took it a bit easy. Back to 55-45 on the push-ups.

Out at Scenic Caves with Bash. Busy day at Nordicfest, but only saw a few skiers we knew- Sherpa, PJ and The Rydller. My first time skate-only this year, and my knee was OK until near the end.
Nice trails!

Back out to ski all the trails again on classic this time. Nice to have ideal conditions for classic, instead of the crud we've had at home.

Out trying Getawaystix's night-o course. Lots of vertical, lots of powder, and a little road run to finish.
Some serious winter nav potential in this area.

I think all the running form stuff is working- I had time to take the longer route today and still arrived early, even with the lumpy crust under snow.

Got the heel lift thing worked out I think- I need to feel like I'm scraping something off my shoe as I hit, which brings it up as you kick back.

Just a dusting of new powder and it's ski-able.I thought I saw Zoolander in the Charlevoix trail, but it was just a prancing deer.

Not too bad in Palgrave West, but I had to princess out and walk down the luge run to the river trail.

Ahhh, icebugs. Boilerplate has met its match. I took advantage of the early light to throw in some hill intervals.

Hike home with the intrepid T-dog, who kept up a decent clip except when sniffing one of a hundred pee-spots. She also showed a friendly collie just how frisky a 13.5 year old lab can be, eliciting the question "what are you feeding that dog?".

Hard icy ski in. Some sections were decent, others were a bobsled run where I had to de-ski. Some shiny boilerplate in spots- one hill was so hard my poles wouldn't even dig in.
I think I'll run with spikes tomorrow.

Oh goodie, I arrived just as Bash was getting into the harder bits of the Hard Core workout and just had to join in.
