Snowshoe Raid with Goose. An absolutely perfect day. See Bash's log for pics.
We made quite a good team, with him powering up the hills and me holding my own on nav. My knee held out and we never broke out the tow rope or my emergency ski poles.
To our surprise we cleaned the course with almost 30 minutes to spare, just in front of the Bobjaguars, and just behind Tiny (again) and Hotshot Lawyer. Phatty Sr and Jr blew away the field, even beating Hanz-and-Franz by several minutes.
We ended up 1st in the geezer category and 5th overall, 12 minutes behind the Cameron kids.
A very well run event with an absolute ton of swag, good course and fast and accurate results.
Amazing run home today. Crisp and cold, dead calm, and a full moon bright enough to read by. I kept looking back to watch it eclipse as I made my way home.
Mixed bag -snow's hard today. My metal-edged backcountry skis are wider than the icy tracks, so they wedge in a fair bit. OTOH, skating on the crust worked well in the open fields.
The way home was pretty slow slogging too.
Breaking trail in sketchy conditions after all the rain, but still nice to be out with Bash.
Snowshoeing hills 15:00 [5]
Hard hill intervals right after skiing. Kept it just at the bottom of zone 5.

Much easier outing with the dogs. Looks like lots of wildlife is using the ski tracks, and the dogs want to walk in them too, but I broke them a hiking trail.
