Cycling (trainer) 50:00 [2]

Easy spin

Misc (Lumberjack) 1:00:00 [2]

(3hrs) Hauled a few more 150kg loads of firewood and stacked 'em up. The pile in the driveway is actually looking smaller.
Also some portaging of the boats to put them to bed, reset our solar panels (heavy) and other grunt work.

Hardest thing of all was wrangling a huge roofing ladder within our shed, trying to get it out of the way of the boats. Profanities were uttered.

Strength (Home gym) 1:00:00 [3]

OK, I'm giving this one the rare 3 intensity, as I got back to all my previous records on virtually every exercise on the cable gym. Wazzup? Maybe it's all muscle I gained by eating too much and exercising too little last month.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks CP Green 2

Warm up for Trek or Treat. I seem to be OK since the marathon, but my lower legs are still a little tight. Some easy running, and a couple of hard 1 minute intervals.

Running race 44:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks CP Green 2

Trek or Treat 10K.
I'd warmed up well and my legs were working OK, so I went fast out of the gate. Rydlow caught up and ran with me for a bit before dusting me, and I got passed by Bob Mcgrath after 2k or so, at just over 4min/km. After that I just ran my HRM and concentrated on technique- (Elbows in, arms up, hips forward).

3rd overall by about 40 seconds (Way behind Rydlow though- he's a machine). Not the fastest 10K, but given 2 sizeable and slippery hills on a night run while still "recovering", not bad.

Bash came flying across the line looking good. We both won our 40-something categories.

Another great event- really good haunting on the course, fine prizing, well marked and planned.

Cycling (Commute) 52:00 [2]

Brisk ride with the Bulletdog. Almost need lights in the AM now.

Strength (core) 29:00 [3]

I was hoping Caron would go easy on us today as I'm still a touch sore.
No luck- this was a nasty one. She wants to push us until someone cries "uncle".

Yoga 45:00 [1]

Well, survived this one better.

Strength (Home gym) 1:00:00 [2]

Workout #3

Misc (Lumberjack) 20:00 [2]

Hauled and slung a couple more 200kg loads

Running (Commute) 28:00 [3]
shoes: Ecco GTX + Screws

Slow yet somewhat sore run to work with Bulletdog among the early snow and falling leaves.

It felt harder than it should. I know it'll be good for my legs.

Running (Commute) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Ecco GTX + Screws

Legs feel better already! Nice run home in the snowy dark.

Cycling (trainer) 40:00 [3]

A fairly decent spin. My legs need a spin.

Cycling (trainer) 30:00 [1]

Easy spin to loosen up the legs. Too bad it's all the way down into the basement.

Running race (Toronto Marathon) 3:18:52 [4] 42.2 km (4:43 / km)
ahr:174 shoes: Saucony Road

Bring on the Boston Clam Chowder!

I did this with Goose, and given that we hadn't seriously trained (Decided to do it last week), we planned to aim for a fairly achievable 3:20 time, well within our Boston qualifier of 3:30.. Perfect day for it!

I was watching my HRM and it never got all that high. It didn't seem like a race at all, just a nice day for a run. We were just behind the 3:10 pace bunny at the half way and feeling good, where we met our lovely support- Bash. The long flat out-and-back on the waterfront was actually hardest on the legs as it's so repetitive and we fell back closer to the target pace.

At the 40km mark Goose said that his legs were feeling the hills and I might as well go for it. I cranked up the pace, but Goose was only 6 seconds behind- he had more in the tank than he let on.

This wasn't a push aerobically at all, and I think taking 10 minutes off would have been quite possible. Great to pace with Goose too.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Road

Easy trot with Goose in frosty AM.
