I finally got to team up with Eugenius for a race! He's as competent as advertised, rapidly planning a route with minimal climbing and a good bail-out.
We headed off to Walk-the-line with the eventual winners Sudden/ Turbo and 2nd place Tiny/Hotshot. We were ahead of the game by 5km, did some towing up in the 2nd 5km, picked up a couple of extra controls, but had to skip one on the way back in as time was tight. We finished with 4 minutes to spare.
Bash'nHammer took a cleverer route after we met them near the end at 23 and squeaked in the last second after gaining enough points on us to tie exactly at 1070!
In hindsight we could have gotten one more control with a small penalty, but we did win the Master's category on our finish time, despite the very cunning competition. 3 for 3 at Horseshoe now.
Eugenius was very confident in the nav. He's more the hunter and I was more the hound/ beast of burden which worked out well. Hope we can race together again!
Kudos to Tiny/Hotshot for coming in ahead of Tarno/Riddler and Nick/ XCD too.
Amusingly, the 2 Salomon spouse teams tied as well on points, but you have to read their logs to see who won on time.
Fast run to work to pick up the van so I can visit Thumbs-of-death for my knee.

Workout #3.
XC Skiing (Commute) 35:00 [3]
Quest for Snow- *just* enough to ski to work via the longer route with the crustbuster skis and grip tape.
Bulletdog was completely ga-ga- She wants to Skijor more!
I had her on leash for the first bit as the pit bull's been sniffing around our place again.
Skiing with Bash and the Wadd Squad. More skating on my classic equipment than actual skiing, but still a fun outing.
Snowshoeing (Orienteering) 1:10:00 [3]
I got to tag along with Bash and Hammer the Human GPS as they practiced a bit of nav and towing for the Snowshoe Raid. Oh oh, Hammer really can smell control features from 1km away, and he's not as sluggish as advertised.
I discovered why I get in so much trouble when I try to follow along faster than I can read a map.
Nice time out, but my knee was a bit sore from yesterday's skate ski.
Running intervals (skijoring- bait) 5:00 [5]
Sprinting while acting as the rabbit for Bulletdog to chase while AG or Hammer towed along behind her on skis. Bulletdog took to it like she was born for it, as long as I was ahead.
See Hammer's log for video coverage.

Spent time working on my knee with rollers, some exercises, stretching.
Off to the land of snow at Highlands with Goose, LD and Bash, in good conditions!
Goose made it up the escarpment in his sit-ski with some help. I'd do an extra loop and meet back with them, then LD and I'd do a loop and meet Bash and then meet up with Goose, or all 3 of us would do a loop, and it worked out very well. Goose's careening 1-ski descents on that sit ski were impressive.
LD and I did a fast lap, (She's a fantastic skier and sets a pace that's a 4 for me) although we were eventually gradually passed by Tarno, then I met up with Bash for another loop, and LD ran into Kynyn for a Family Day loop. All in all a fine time was had by all.
