Well, after 327 days of meniscus problems, hobbling through only 7 races all year and a lot of exercises, ART, ice and meds, I'm finally getting knee surgery today.
It's definitely a lot better than it was last winter, and I can bike and hike pretty well without poles now.
I can even run a few km now with only moderate pain, but it's meant I can't train or race with Bash much, and when I do I'm mainly baggage. Hoping after this that I'll be ba-a-ack.
Back from surgery. It was actually pretty cool. I had a light spinal anesthetic, and got to watch the surgery on the scope screen. I saw the tear, and watched him trim down the flappy bit. Also checked out the rest of the knee- there's a worn out bit under the patella that he can't fix.
The tear would definitely not have healed without surgery.
OK, hopefully back to running and racing with Bash soon, but I have a lot of catching up to do.
Good solid workout #3. Sets of 12 chin-ups this time.
Also leg strength between sets, and some core.

World car-free day, so I biked down despite the rain. Lucked out and it wasn't too bad.
Running (Commute) 30:00 [2] shoes: Vibram FF Trek
Magical run home- dead calm, brilliant moonlight- at times I turned off my light and just glided through the forest in my barefoot shoes. So much calmer than biking.
Terry Fox "run" with Leanimal, Coach LD and Goose Jr.
Goose Jr jogged the first bit by himself, then I pushed him in the jogger at an easy run until the last bit, where the lovely ladies managed to coax him along. Pregnancy and Injury haven't slowed them down all that much!
Farthest I've run in many months. I think the jogger took a little weight off my stooopid knee.

Out with Goose and Phats on the Omega with 26" fat tires.. I was a bit worried about my knee, and about keeping up to the 2 big Scots, especially Phats on his roadie, so I met them part way for a ride to Schomberg.
Started out pretty quickly until I blew up after the first km. Well, my rear tire blew right off the rim with a major explosion. Note to self- don't pump a tire with Stan's sealant up to 70PSI. Otherwise a nice ride. The Omega's fine with 2 big wheels on road. Next I need to try skinny slicks.
Great coffee at the Grackle, and back with the boys. One stop on the way back to rescue a newly hatched snapping turtle.
I ran into Crash on the drive back, who helped me re-Stan-ify my tire. no more high pressures.
