GRR testing.
I have to miss the GRR this year, so I offered to test the course with CS. Can't reveal too many details, but Griz has put together a varied and challenging course, using the interesting terrain features very well. The usual mix of escarpment and rocky run, some nice woods, some muddy slopes and big climbs also has some unusual new features.
Thick fog in the AM gave way to clear sun and T-shirt weather.
CS and I ran well together and moved quickly on the first half. He's a more precise navigator, so the controls he led were more accurate and we kept up a good pace. We worked well on the nav together too, correcting small errors for each other.
We only did all our route planning and got instructions from Hammer as the Wadd Squad shuttled us to the start. At one point I hadn't realized we were on a walk-the-line until 1/3 through it, but CS wasn't too keen to go back and re-run it to look for flags. He'd started to run out of gas past the 2 hour mark- perhaps we went out a bit quick on the road sections. Some tums and advils helped CS de-cramp a bit, and he was still navigating well, but we did a fair bit of walking in the final hour. We shared the nav well, but he led more of the trickier CPs with confidence.
I think racers will like the course, except where they're shaking their fist in the air muttering "Damn you Griz".
Easy jog with the dogs.
Also got in some Forest Fit- 100 pushups and 3 sets of tree pull-ups. Had to tie off Bzdog so he didn't haul my hands out from under me.

Easy spin on the Omega 'bent to Caledon East with Bash to pick up the 'Bentmobile. We had to walk past the softest trail bits to avoid damage.
All set for my first bike commute of the season, when a huge crack of thunder and torrential rain had me back in the car. 1 hour later it's brilliant sunshine, after I've driven. Grrrr....
Horrible forecast for my evening ride to my environmental meeting (Severe thunderstorm warning), but it would have been fine- again.
Foot & Kneehab, pushups and pulldowns, workout 2 + KBs. I need to do strength more often if I want to make progress- been doing more trainer riding and less strength in prep for Moab.
Running (Commute +) 50:00 [4] shoes: Icebugs Gryllo Green
Cold last night, so mud was more solid and so was my run.
Knee's not 100% but legs felt good, so I did the figure 8 Charlevoix hill loop, with some speed intervals thrown in. Still need the icebugs. Bulletdog could have used a swim!
Note
Found the old "Riding up the stairs" video.
Terrible quality, but that's the old camera for you.
Running (Commute) 27:00 [2] shoes: Icebugs Gryllo Green
Easy run in the dark and mud. Bulletdog was wiped out from the heat of the 11AM run, and lagged a bit. She needs a rest day.

Commute went from 70% glare ice on the way down to about 50% on the way back, with the difference turning to soft mud over frozen ground. Almost time to retire the icebugs.
Sunny spring day, and I needed to test the 'bent bike before Moab.
My knee was a little dicey after the skiing yesterday, but not bad on the bike.
Bash and I rode the paved Humber trail from the North end near Finch and 427 down to the lake and back. Some quick bits, some road diversion, some slow bits with lots of pedestrians.
We met STORM and H on one of the seedier road bits, and paced him for the last 10K to the lake. The dude's running sub 5 min/kms on his long slow training runs!
Great day to be out. Beats the heck out of the trainer!
