XC Skiing 3:00:00 [3]

Supercamp at Sovereign today. Advanced classic class with Coach Dave in the AM- spent a lot of time fine tuning double poling technique, and then repeats for uphill diagonal stride. (I got teles in on the return downhills).

Starting the poling with arms much closer in than before, with ankle flex on the compression.
More emphasis on landing on the ball of the foot on uphill strides.
We did some downhill turn work, but Revy and I were already pretty solid there.

PM was all one group, more of a cruise on the trails with Coach Dennis, whose style is less explosive but more economical. Kick-double-pole work, more emphasis on fluidity. For once, his talk about ski slap wasn't directed to me, but he did want me to slow it down a bit. Perfect day for a nice ski.

XC Skiing 1:30:00 [3]

Silverstar!
I had a blinding migraine on the plane, and the late night drive from Kelowna was hell. Bash had to stop several times on snowy, slippery hairpin turns for me to stagger out and kneel in the snow bank to hurl my guts out. Not going to log it as core strength, but it sure was a workout.

This AM I felt better, and we did a short scoot around the trails before meeting up with Carbon and CO, and Revy and C-Bass and the rest of the Ski camp. We had a decent lesson with CoachDave, who had us commit to one ski, shorten up the forward arm extension and (looking at me) land forward more on the ball of our foot to avoid heel slap.
Revy and I skied well together, but he has better technique. Hopefully my stomach will improve by tomorrow.

Pot luck with the whole gang and 2 dogs after, then hot tub before bed. Ahhh.

Note

Glowworm lights in NZ just put their X1 light up for presale- 100 unt only.
It's basically a commercial Bentblaster. It's $139US for light and battery right now.

Geez, the parts for the Bentblaster cost me almost that much! I include headband and bar mount usually, and they sell those for $10 and $25.
I think mine have better quick-release attachments now.

This one comes with 3 interchangeable optics so you can set up narrow throw beam or wide flood.

They also make a nice kick-butt twin light at a reasonable price.

Strength 45:00 [2]

Shoulder sore, so no 100 push-ups or pull-up sets.
Foothab, kneehab and most of the Link workout.

Running 55:00 intensity: (30:00 @3) + (25:00 @4)

Good solid run around Palgrave NE with Bazingadog. I felt like I was leashed to a runaway train for the first half- after 1 rest day he was going nuts.

Running 28:00 [2]

Foggy night run home.

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Foot/kneehab, workout 3 + 15-35-35-25 push-ups + 3x8 pull-ups + kbs.
1 PM

Running 1:14:34 intensity: (5:00 @2) + (49:34 @3) + (15:00 @4) + (5:00 @5) 11.88 km (6:17 / km) +141m 5:56 / km
shoes: Salomon Sense

Good run around the Dingle and Haffy with Bazingadog. Knee was a bit wonky, but settled in.

The newSense shoe are uber-light and fast.

I did the last bit at a decent tempo, but had stopped my Garmin for the pooch's swim in the river and forgot to restart. I know I was doing 3:50 when I glanced at it as I was slowing up for the end.
