Paddlng 5:00 [1]

Hansel generously offered me his old K1 as he has graduated to a narrow and long Epic V12 surf ski.
We tried it at MCC, where there is great incentive not to fall into the goose-poo and dead catfish solution they call water. I think both Hansel and Bash were disappointed when I didn't do a Rick Mercer and dump into the drink, even though my paddling was pretty nervous. The ultra-secure broken-seat-on-a-towel suspension system didn't help much either. I got to try the new SS Hansel, and it felt like a white water raft by comparison.

Guess I have a new project ahead of me, trying to figure out a seat and reinforce the hull.

Running 4:01:20 intensity: (17:48 @1) + (55:09 @2) + (1:53:42 @3) + (53:48 @4) + (53 @5) 36.99 km (6:31 / km) +816m 5:53 / km
ahr:155 max:234 shoes: Hoka Mafate 2

Nice quick run with Goose through Glen Haffy, without poles or walking hills, then a second lap in Albion Hills after he dropped me off.
Nice to get some decent pace going on a run this long, instead of the Ultraplod in boiling hot weather. Slow going in the Albion Hills and Glen Haffy singletrack (Blue trail below the ponds) but at the end I was still able to go 5'/km on the rail trail and road.

Cool but very humid. Narrowly missed the monsoon that caught Bash.

My broken toe didn't bother me at all during the run in the Hokas. Also not bad walking in Relax shoes.

Strength (Lumberjack) 1:00:00 [3]

(90 min) More hauling, splitting and stacking logs.
These are the big boys, in the 40-50 kg range. I split some older dry logs from the same tree to make space, and they needed a lot of clobbering with a big splitter maul to dent them. Dunno how I'll split the new ones.
The pile has diminished a bit and I'm drenched and wiped out.

Cycling 52:00 [1]

Easy ride with Bazingadog on a wonderfully cool morning sans FDFs. They were back for the moderately warm return trip.
Foot is a bit sore from yesterday's steepest climbs.

Running 28:00 [2]
shoes: Hoka Mafate 2

Beautiful cool evening run with Bulletdog home.
8 AM

Strength (Lumberjack) 1:00:00 [2]

Cool enough to start hauling the huge log chunks from the pine tree. Most of them are 30kg or so.
9 AM

Running 1:48:08 intensity: (5:36 @0) + (42:44 @1) + (42:37 @2) + (12:33 @3) + (4:38 @4) 12.34 km (8:46 / km) +581m 7:06 / km
ahr:134 max:172 shoes: Hoka Mafate 2

Out for a warmup loop, then half an hour of repeats on the North face of Mt. Tobler with poles & pack, then repeats without pack or poles on lookout hill, then to work with Mocha.

Foot wasn't bad, but hurt a bit on the steepest climbs. Sore to touch now.

I loaded up all the mandatory gear for CCC, and it's not heavy but a 12L skin pack will be a very tight fit. May need my 12+3.

Note

My foot has been bugging me since last week. I was blaming minimal shoes from 2 weeks ago, but finally figured out why, when I remembered whacking my right big toe hard on a little stump last Wednesday.

Is that a little bone spur or chip?

Got up extra early to get an hour in before work. The big guy liked the cool weather. Foot is fine running in Hokas, I just hope I don't slam it into something else.

Running (Commute) 55:00 [2]
shoes: Cascadia 7

Commute with Bazingadog. Wonderful and cool in the AM, getting hot with FDFs in the PM again.

Cycling (Bikejoring ) 30:00 [2]

Nice and cool, so I harnessed up the big guy for a ride. He was completely Bazingadog, and we were burning up the trail with me basically coasting with Bulletdog gamely galloping along, until we reached the Wheelies pond. There he hysterically threw himself in, almost pulling me with him.
Once he had done some full-on laps and stick- fetching he was fine.
Both dogs were utterly wiped after.

Cycling 1:52:54 [3] 23.09 km (12.3 kph) +442m

Oh fair Albion, how I have missed your verdant hills and cool forests.
Bash and I rode down and rode around a bit, then I did the rest of my favourite trails after she headed back. Very few riders out and great conditions, as I spun my granny gear up the hills.
