Snowshoeing 1:00:00 [1]
(sick)

Bah, too sick to take advantage of the perfect conditions, so I took Bazingadog to the off-leash property to race around with Rapper through chest-deep snow, then took Bulletdog to haul a load of wood from the summit. We dropped off most of it at the base of the uphill so it wasn't a huge load to haul up.
Also foot and kneehab.

Sniff, snort, sneeze- happy Valentine's day.

XC Skiing 30:00 [3]

Ugh- coming down with a cold.
Still a nice ski in with Bazingadog. He scooted along well, even with his embarrassing boots on at -20c.

XC Skiing 30:00 [2]
(sick)

Definitely sick.
Bazingadog laid down some great intervals while I hung on in a full tuck. Some of the turns at speed were a challenge. Funny, mostly he just trots along and I have to work, but certain slight dowhill spots he feels have a virtual timer.

Strength 50:00 [2]

Foothab, kneehab, workout 1.

XC Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Fantastic bluebird day! Broke trail by myself in the Charlevoix loop, then back to pick up Bulletdog for the commute. She's also been watching Olympics, and was trying for a season PB at a nice solid gallop.

XC Skiing 35:00 [2]

Leisurely ski home with scratch-and-sniff dog.

XC Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Another great commute with the big guy. At one time he tried to improve on yesterday's run with another record-setting sprint, thanks to Coach Venison-on-the-hoof.

XC Skiing 30:00 [2]

Sluggish this morning. Nice to be on the back end of the tow rope behind Bazingadog, at least for the bit he chose to haul.

XC Skiing 30:00 [3]

Back home as the sun set. Bazingadog is watching too much Olympic a coverage- he treated 1km of slight downhill as a luge run. I think he could hear the cowbells and cheers in his head as he went flat-out just for the fun of it.

Adventure Racing race (Stars WAR) 3:00:16 [4] 23.18 km (7:47 / km) +346m 7:14 / km

Great to race this one with Bash.
As always, complex and well thought-out course with many options and no obvious route. You could start on the ski-o map or the snowshoe-o, and there were certain controls that had a bonus if you did them sequentially. You could get any controls at any time via ski or snowshoe, but one section was on the ski trails, while some were deeper in the bush. You couldn't snowshoe on ski trails, and some ski trails were 1-way only.

Bash and I chose to mainly ski but carry our snowshoes in our packs, and drop the skis at a far point. Great winter conditions, and some good track skiing.
Also had to break some trail where it was over my knees- that was level 5 skiing.
I'd glide-waxed Bash's waxless skis with some great Hi-Fluoro Molybdenum wax we got at Silverstar, and she definitely had better glide than my waxable skis.
We were able to ski to some of the snowshoe controls, but changed over for a couple, then back. Made it in 16 seconds late.

Due to one spot where we didn't see the SI and manually punched our results were a little complicated but when they were adjusted after the awards it turns out we were first Masters with 670 points. Kudos to BobJack, who got over 1000 points, winning overall by a solid margin.

This felt like a real winter race, with cold conditions, deep fluffy powder and some tough trail-breaking. Thanks to the Stars for putting on a great event.
