Paddlng 1:15:00 [3]

Comedy-of-errors outing.
Goose and I headed up to Holland Marsh for some exploratory paddling. 500m in, I caught my pants pocket zipper on my Garmin on the return stroke, A moment later I heard a jingle and a splash- the zipper had opened and my keys went overboard. We marked the spot, but the water is green and murky.

Goose was kind enough to spare me the call-of-shame to Bash to schedule a key drop-off.
We kept paddling, and had a good outing until the mighty Goose with his handcycle-trained arms split his paddle in 2. We couldn't even ditch the boat and go for a jog back due to his knee.

It turns out that Goose with half a paddle = normal mortal, so we made it back fine.

Bash arrived, and handed me a scuba facemask. Fortunately she didn't just toss it our way and head home, but gave me the keys after some shaming, and we had a nice lunch at the Grackle.

I know the spot-anybody have some heavy duty fishing tackle or a large mangnet?

Running 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

3-dog run with BGY. We took them down to the Wheelie pond for a swim, then explored most of the trails in Palgrave West, and some bushwhacking for good measure. New guy K-Dog was great, even when we saw a deer. Adventuredog gave chase, but came back when I whistled, while K-Dog stayed with us. BZdog was on his harness. All good until we hit some burs.

Cycling 1:15:00 [3]

Time to test the Kodiak with the correct bars and steering. Rode over to Palgrave East and the twisty Salty Stephen singletrack. The bike is light and lively to ride, handles rocks and logs well. It's a smooth quiet ride without the clunks and clatfers of the other bike, and I love the crisp shifting and braking amd lively climbing.
But... It's still more work on tight turns.
I figured out that I have to lean way forward and throw the bars far to one side, sliding my hand in from the outboard grip towards the stem. I had to get off and walk a couple of spots that I rode in my "Palgrave Rockpiles" video.

I tested the frame repairs on a few spots where I got some decent air, and it just floats over drops nicely.

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Cycling (Singletrack fail) 1:00:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (30:00 @3)

I joined Bash and Jill, and took the Kodiak to Albion Hills for the first singletrack ride.

It seems to climb better and ride faster on the less technical bits. It handles well on roads.

However, it's a bit of a pig on the sharp turns. I caught a big group of riders and moved up a bit but had to let them by as I got stuck on some turns that I can ride every time on the other bike. They were saying sympathetically- "man, that looks tough on the turns."

We next hit some smooth pump track bumps, and there was a big "pow".

The seat support separated off the frame. I had to jam a stick in there to support the seat so I could ride a bit as I limped home, walking all the hills.

It looks the optional rear shock mount hadn't been heavily tested. I'll be shipping 'er back to Colorado for some repairs and geometry tuning. Oh, the life of a test pilot.

Paddlng 1:05:00 [2]

Island Lake with Bash and the Doughty Clan. Picnic and then ice cream after- what a great way to spend our anniversary.
