We kame, we saw, we did not try to throw a disc golf disc off the kame down onto the flood plain because of the strong wind.

Browsed local turkey trots to find the softest. This was won in like 21:11 last year, with top three plus a bit. Just enough room for me!

BUT this year the turnout was much higher, plus I'm not any slimmer than 2014 - a rough combo. Several runner-y looking folks....this was not going to work.

I had no speed. I probably could have continued this shuffle for two more miles, but just nothing to get up on a proper 5k boil. Winning time was in the 18s, so I ended up like 12th? of ~150?

It seems I skipped one...no big deal, just have to mention it to the vetter. Easy enough spot, must have lost track in the hustle to get it wrapped up.

Nice morning to be out. Had to tweak some for fun-ness improvements. The green is still green in places. Feet a bit cold after all the snow melting on them. My other problem was that the swamps at Maybury are often not super strong, and in these conditions, their lack of definition made me use other spots that were more concrete.

Two trail corrections for fairness, I think. I walked them, just have to sketch them on.

Nice meeting with the park supervisor. I can have a fire in the shelter, and they'll leave the lights on for us. Also, if we do a spring event before 4/1, we don't have to worry about the stables since they won't be open, giving more flexibility in course design.

PYT who started the same time as me is now fully integrated into the group. Lacking any charisma or social grace, I had my one option to endear myself: sit on the leaders. This worked well until near my house, where I missed the surge and got gapped as they drifted into the 8:00/range. Finally on the home stretch they relaxed so I could close. The co founder was not far behind and introduced herself - nice people.

Got out the door, but then felt pretty lousy so cut it back to a walk after a mile or so.

Note

dropped off maybury night o permit. better late than never. we'll see what they say. (12/5, 6-8pm, easily clearable by stars) Pinckney Rec was gracious enough to be a reference - maybe that will help

trying to add in some lame body weight stuff MWF until I find a gym. leaning towards the closest place if the prices aren't bad, do that for a few months, and see what's next

Tried to do study group, still understand 0% of the homework, then stupid credit card company again put card on hold at the same stonking Meijer as last week?!?!?!, so I spent 25 minutes on the phone with them restraining my very twitchy cursing muscles, so I missed a good chunk of potential collaboration with the other kids, then missed the start.

Otherwise was a nice run. Weather is not too cold for a shirt and shorts. No idea what about the nice part of town confounded the Fenix.

One of those fantastic days where just about everything makes sense - you pick some feature, it looks right, thanks to late season and nice woods you can see it 100 m away...plus great running weather. Thanks to Igor for graciously letting me run outside of the advertised start window.

Control pick up from the south westery kind of bits. I mixed up some of the orders for variety. I wonder if 5 was faster via the clearing?

Good fun again to appreciate the very open and runnable woods on this immediately readable map.

I once again missed the start of the group.

But it served as a brilliant excuse to skip work around the house.

I had closed to within block/half block of a 5 or 7 mile group, and a few others were in sight. But I elected to stay on the easier side and broke off towards the house (and my abandoned car).
