Biking 45:00 [3] 9.0 mi (12.0 mph)
shoes: Jamis Dragon Sport 29er

Easing into trainer usage. Cowboys and Aliens.

Balance of movie was a few light weight squats here and there.

Friday Dec 30, 2016 #

Walking 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Dropped car off for oil change, walked to library for movie binge, went home for a bit, walked back to oil change place.

Found Wide Open West! (local Comcast alternative) employee badge on side of road.

Good reminder of my current state of rustiness. Interesting venue - I swear there's a different standard between high relief and low relief areas, so you have to generalize when the contours are close and then try to figure out what's what when they are more sparse. Or I'm rusty. Or both!

I didn't dress correctly. Roclites let in snow and toes were cold before the 30 minute mark - I'll run sealskinz or neoprene liners for Cabin Fever.

Excited to have this master class terrain so close to the in laws - if we are around for Easter I'll hit this place up for training. And budget more time - I had no idea how slow I'd be!

On the drive back I scouted a little for the 2020 Big Rapids Adventure Team Something race.

Biking 50:31 [3] 2.96 mi (3.5 mph)
shoes: The General

Pokemon + plow lifting

Didn't log the two fun trips around younger nephew's new property.

May not get to ski much in the 49336 - not much contiguous snow here.

Friday Dec 23, 2016 #

Note

Vindicated in bringing xc skis to the inlaws. 8" base and 2-4" coming down now.

Note
weight:222lbs

My AR status (weight, fitness) is not improved, but my GPA was slightly improved by the A- in computer vision. Woo woo

Monday Dec 19, 2016 #

Note

Blue bike swapped to trainer tire and put on trainer.

Orange bike swapped to studs. Not as trivial since axle is bolted (not QR) and I use set screws for tensioning/alignment in the drop out (at least for pre tightening) - additionally, I should have set the chain length another link or two out, so it would be easier to get the chain over the sprocket once loosened. Also, the studded tires are tight as heck so it's a workout - I want to log it as strength.

XC Ski 1:44:49 [3] 4.79 mi (21:53 / mi) +208m 19:17 / mi
shoes: Rossignol skis

Pre dawn start at Peach Mountain with BNM and Sydney. The main road from Stinchfield to the radio telescope is not totally skiable - perhaps better to start from Kids Land instead.

Hill towards the car is the best. I chickened out on the super slide down in that monster reentrant a ways north of the usual gravel pit. Curious what Sydney's top speed will be.

Weights (shoveling) 45:00 [3]
slept:7.0

Furious driveway clearing to beat the contractor's arrival.

When bored between storms, I should move snow from good shovel drop off points to more remote locations, for easier crisis shoveling.

ahr:157 max:220 shoes: Nova Trak White & Pink skis

Tried my new old pink skis. Not much different from my old blue skis. Certainly not fast enough to cover my lack of technique and fitness to our speedy A2 friends we saw in the parking lot!

I started with my 10degF outfit on and quickly roasted, ending with two layers and no gloves.

Great afternoon!

I'm way behind Oleg.

Also the near falls are good for the core.

Plenty of snow @ Maybury

Erg rowing 20:00 [3] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Orange bike and studded tires brought in to warm up to enable swapping.

Blue bike chain cleaned but not brought in yet for its swap to trainer tire and set up. Maybe tomorrow.

I really don't understand the wiring in this house. A switched outlet would power up the light for a second before it tapered off.

Nothing appeared wrong, although in my examination I broke off one of the power wires. Perhaps that was part of the issue?

Off to Ace via bike for some wire nuts. Nice enough ride, no helmet, no vest, no lights, so I walked the one busy intersection. Nice weather. I could not find a secret cut through via Maria's apartment to the SW corner of DTP.

That did not fix the outlet. Off to Home Depot by car for a new outlet, replaced outlet, wired it up...now nothing! Eventually I discover that I think at least one wire was backwards coming from the switch....

Anyway it works now and I was only shocked lightly once during the process, more a gentle tingle than a shock really.
