Frequently encountered while exploring seasonal roads.

If you look close, near the left fork, there's a sign on the tree. Something like "24 hour video surveillance, no trespassing", that sort of thing.

Which fork is this hoping you won't use? To me, it seems to indicate that proceeding on the left fork would be wrong. But it's not, the left fork is the continuation of the seasonal road ("Not plowed by insert county"). The right fork I think does go into the private property.

The entrance to this season road had No Trespassing signs perpendicular to the road on both sides at its start! (The transition from non seasonal road to seasonal road.)

This isn't isolated. There's a river bend park where the no trespassing signs are more perpendicular to the road rather than parallel, causing you to doubt that you are able to proceed on the road when you can. There are some other seasonal roads that go through kind of hunting grounds (some single private party, some hunt clubs) where there signs are similarly placed.

This is one of the reasons I didn't even consider than we'd end up behind a gate at WT 2017.

Biking 2:16:49 intensity: (11:28 @0) + (1:48:35 @1) + (16:38 @2) + (8 @3) 23.54 mi (10.3 mph) +14m

Rode down to pickup my car from the windshield place (swapped it earlier today for the freshly windshield-ed spouse's car), but did so via I-275 Metro, and then the glorious fine crushed stone (you could ride 23s on it) trail, out to the Morton Taylor mtb trails.

I think those trails would work for MTB-O. I know I was confused, did not ride half of them, and was all over the place. I had a great time. Other than I will probably use up the last of my Tecnu, should reorder stat!

Then the again fine crushed stone trail up to the car was pretty sweet. More power lines need more trails!

Dream somewhat tempered. Although not all miles are equal. A few season or forest roads, some gravel, eight miles of more or less single track.

Snapped my chain trying to sprint across a major road, that was a trip. Fortunately I had found my tools so I pulled over at a cemetery and shortened it a bit, good to go.

Maybe not quite ready for c2c, but maybe could get ready.

Worked hard for a good time, but lights were not in my favor, and power waned slightly when I hit the concrete mile, which I swear is higher rolling resistance than the blacktop.

I have heard tales of people riding road bikes with road tires on gravel, but the little gravel shortcut I take...it's terrifying on this bike with touring tires - the front end slides towards the outside of the turn on every rock it hits if I try to hustle at all. skitter skitter skitter. When it's not loose stones, it's fine.

Was supposed to be biking instead, but I made a really solid mistake at work and it took a long time to fix it. :(

Hope long term is to transition the longer walks to jogs, such that for race shape there's the time and fitness allotted to get a decent mpw.

Failed attempt to play Rick’s game “Find the remonumentation markers.” I had found two by accident on orienteering maps, surely I could find them on purpose with a general approximation. Nope. I’ll have to try again with the hints.

Then while the sky looked nice, it got a little ominous after dark, so hustled back to avoid getting monkey wet. We were fine, although maybe more radar checking for future big loops.

Super fun paddle orienteering hosted by Angel and Steve. I calculated poorly, and the course was 20 minutes faster than I expected. (I had Brenda and Joe to win in 2:30, they did 2:07.) I thought we would need 3:15 and thus planned to drop the two farthest 80 pointers to the NE, but as we chased hard after Cooper and Cooper James, we hit our turn around target about 20 minutes ahead of schedule, so we went for it, and then we able to get to our bailout "must be here with 30 mins" target on time as well. We didn't realize the Greens had to pick up our first c on their way back, so we worked really hard to get away from them after gaining ground by cutting through some mucky area that was less windy than their route in the main channel.

Biggest tactical error was trying to turn around in the tiny channel leaving 81 too soon. It looked like this:

Minor inconvenience: I mounted my bike map holder to the cross bar, which was too narrow, so I electrical taped to size, but then made it too big, took some off, seemed fine, but then it was too small in the field, so it slopped around a bit.

Super fun, looking forward to next year!

I would have bailed given the choice - monkey is a sweet little boy, but has been somewhat distraught at what should be fall asleep time, turning that into a not restful and later-than-ideal bedtime experience. But my car is in to get the a/c fixed (it's brutal right now without!), so not really a choice!

Really didn't expect to see sub 1 hr, although on full pulls the time is marginally shorter since I stop shortly after I get onto the work grounds, versus when i go around back to the overnight parking on split commutes.

Maybe there's a small chance I could be fit in 12 weeks or so. Although HR for effort seems a little bit high yet.

Not too bad, until the final stretch, where I ran out of oomph.

The shop had a backlog of A/C repairs, so I could do this again tomorrow unless I do some clever work from home vs. work splitting.

My favorite paddle partner and I tested our race setup on Newburgh Lake. Running the boat backwards makes it easily steerable despite the weight disparity (3:1), although it did cramp her legs a bit in the now cozy front cockpit area, so we might have her sit backwards from time to time to stretch out. Plus I should attach some foam for comfort this week...

With the easy 3 mph, we should be able to plan our best 9 mile route for the paddle o, which will be tight for clearing at 15 km straight-line....looks like we'll have to be strategic about a drop or two.

One interesting moment when an oncoming conglomerate of 1-2 dozen cyclists largely didn't see me coming around the gentlest bend on the path, and I wondered if I'd get to keep the rightmost foot of blacktop for myself or not.

One nice moment: I heard the tire noise of someone braking - a kind driver made sure not to right hook me, although unbeknownst to her I was stopping to hit the cross walk button (sketchy road, I use the pedestrian lights for it).

Beautiful weather, really nice. Next time, I'd like to make it to I-94 before turning around.

Testing out the umbrella stroller. Rolls alright, wheels aren't teeny tiny, wheelbase is a little short adding a little extra chop but he slept the whole time anyway. This one reclines a lot so it's good to go. Plus it gets a lot more airflow than the other one.

I had hoped it would be cooler starting when I did. It was not. Also, the occasionally breeze up on high ground disappeared when descending all 15' to the Middle Rouge River Valley.

Also the road is closed on my preferred bike route, but it's just a bridge closure and you can get around it if not in a car, woo woo.
