Orienteering 3:52 intensity: (30 @0) + (2:54 @1) + (28 @2) 0.26 mi (14:53 / mi)
ahr:111 max:146 3c slept:7.0 weight:225lbs shoes: Roclites 295 2

#73, #75 by car, shuffled into camp for #72

Orienteering 1:39:48 intensity: (3:19 @0) + (41:07 @1) + (7:45 @2) + (7:24 @3) + (24:24 @4) + (15:49 @5) 4.08 mi (24:28 / mi) +104m 22:40 / mi
ahr:144 max:189 7c

I staged water by the big hill on the way in via cup de sac (trail junction to the east), and used the big bag to lug a couple jugs to #83, which wasn't bad once I realized all of the hunters just park along the drive anyway.

ALL of the tape was there except...I think...#96, one of the most remote. Paced it from two directions, confirmed details via text, and took my best estimate. I think it's right, it's just one of those ones that's way more subtle than I would normally use - the Jens thing to do here is just move to the NW depression. Kind of a classic quality Igor location - shallow shallow reentrant that has a bottom that's not a u as you look down hill at it, more of a ---, so definitely harder to read from the bottom and not as glaring from uphill.

Control sites were all beautiful, woods are gorgeous, fantastic design!

Orienteering 24:59 intensity: (20 @0) + (23:55 @1) + (44 @2) 1.41 mi (17:43 / mi) +43m 16:10 / mi
ahr:115 max:143 2c shoes: Roclites 295 2

Recheck 82 and 84, thankfully still present!

Orienteering 41:43 [3] 4.98 km (8:23 / km)
shoes: Roclites 295 2

LiveLox since watch was dead (didn't think to charge it for hanging plus a run.)

Ran out of time, but thought I could still squeeze in a hot Orange. I need several asterisks after my name, since I ended up having previewed #2, #4, #5, #6, and #7 via hanging or double checking. Biggest mistakes was on #8, where I comically missed the split to the high trail (which even had a white flag!!) and had to waste some ascending from the N.

Narrowly missed my 10:00/km target at 41:43 versus 40 flat.

Intentionally took probably the sub optimal route to #5, I think left on trail hard then cut over is probably faster, but I'd previewed that specific off trail section so didn't want to repeat it, plus curious how going straight will compare.

Orange is fun since you can hammer so much and if you aren't in shape you can mostly muscle through. I need to race that hard on red when I can run 2x as far as speed!

First point by car

Biking 1:19:26 intensity: (8:55 @0) + (41:20 @1) + (20:51 @2) + (7:57 @3) + (23 @4) 7.76 mi (5.9 mph) +117m

Six points via Poto

Orienteering 37:51 intensity: (2:16 @0) + (32:12 @1) + (3:23 @2) 1.51 mi (25:04 / mi) +21m 24:01 / mi
ahr:123 max:149 1c

Ooof, had not the best time not finding a stolen flag. Bit of green on the far end, as I attempted to sweep it.

Orienteering 39:13 intensity: (2:51 @0) + (31:46 @1) + (4:34 @2) + (2 @3) 1.75 mi (22:25 / mi) +19m 21:40 / mi
ahr:119 max:152 2c

Last two of my set, with no oomph. Currently 100.5 so maybe that’s a factor.

Note

Potential summer sprint venues that are logistically easy for me. Yes, EMU/ U M D / Wayne would be better, maybe we'll check on those as well.

Novi elementary schools. ~2800 feet on the diagonal. Can field check every other week throughout the winter (across from basketball practice)

Plymouth Township Park A little small (just under 2000 feet north to south), but a pond + stream and a little topography, some grassy trail maze. <2 two miles from house

Plymouth Canton Educational Park. Not the most interesting, but a mile end to end. ~10 minutes away. Has mandate for public usage I think. Daughter currently taking the xc coach's civics class, curious if that helps.

ahr:141 max:196 23c

The inner core, nearly hit my time target (11:02 vs 11:00 am). I could do more meets if this is considered successful, doing a 2-3 hr scout and sub 3 hr hang

Orienteering 33:00 intensity: (7:22 @0) + (24:53 @1) + (29 @2) + (16 @3) 1.15 mi (28:42 / mi) +50m 25:15 / mi

Fortune smiles!

As long as the scheduling details cooperate that day, there's an o meet 10 minutes from kiddo's tournament, I noticed by stumbling onto this

This went much better, other than the fields have corn, and there’s a new ride connecting a pair of c, but those stay I think.

Biking (Trainer) 41:50 [3] 9.03 mi (13.0 mph)
ahr:105 max:114 slept:7.0 weight:226.6lbs shoes: Long Haul Trucker

Better Call Saul is great, but maybe a little heavy, I might need something more fun to drive the morning wake ups.

65 rpm, 114 w

Pared down Waterloo HQ further to 28 c, red hovering just over 6 km. Not the finest courses offered, but better than none.

Orienteering 1:25:54 intensity: (1:00 @0) + (2:12 @1) + (8:52 @2) + (29:41 @3) + (29:16 @4) + (14:53 @5) 5.35 mi (16:03 / mi) +145m 14:48 / mi
ahr:166 max:211 16c

1 - slight time loss, couldn't see the flag until I was very slightly south and at its elevation.

10 - slight loss, miscounted and sniffed around stuff too early, finally looked a little more at the map and saw the clearing backstop so pressed on and climbed a bit

11 - didn't do "bottom bottom", hit a few yards up, didn't see it, went way up, came back down, not too much harm done

12 - oops. lost track of where I crossed the trails, though I was more to the right, fixed it on the marsh shore, +600-800 extra meters though

Orienteering 48:25 intensity: (5:10 @0) + (36:27 @1) + (6:29 @2) + (19 @3) 2.06 mi (23:30 / mi) +36m 22:18 / mi
ahr:117 max:153 8c

This did not go well, missed #1, the other ones were super vague, didn't find an X, decided to try again another day maybe with a few tweaks to the design to make it more fast-scout friendly. Shame, would have been a nice challenge if I was up to setting it!
