Put the single speed back together and took the kids down past the pond with swans. Moving 110 pounds + the trailer back up a hill with just 33/18 is not the easiest thing I've ever done. Harvey did cheer me on, which was encouraging.

I wanted to make sure the bike was running well enough for tomorrow. Little more gear noise than ideal, but otherwise okay. Third bottle stays put. Trunk bag slopped over, so I tweaked that. I think I'll need that rather than a pannier and truck if Todd's half as fast as he was last ride.
Nearing home, I got to put in my good deed for the day. Saw a couple staring at an upside down bike, so I pulled over. "Do you have it, or would you like a hand?" "I've got it....wait....yeah, hand please."
He had an old Schwinn with an old Altus derailleur, and the chain was amazingly loose. I was trying to figure out why the d was so short, and it turned out the arm with the lower jockey wheel had a pin on it, and that pin had someone popped under a flange on the upper wheel's arm, so it couldn't extend. With some mild shoving, it popped over and looked like a normal derailleur, and we were able to stop the girlfriend from going to pick up a car to retrieve him.

Returned a truck we borrowed to buy some shrubs and mulch and straw. Ate up much of Sat and Sun. Also, my Apple Watch gives me far fewer calories in credit for this type of yard work than I feel like, which is good that I’m not eating by feel at the moment.
Effort was harder than I thought; maybe calorie cut or sleep a factor I hope. Worried I will tank c burg but this is the best season to slim down.
Unusual night; someone is very good at opening doors now, and did not want to retire. Kept leaving, going into sister's room. Had to move one of the gates up to the staircase and wait him out...nearly 11 pm. And that was with some quality outdoors time!

1:05:27 for Green is a PR, woo woo.
Very fun to try to keep distance from BNM and Todd, and them having no trouble keeping that gap CLOSED! All I heard was Barbara's idling hub. Appreciate their invite immensely!
I was surprised to find that after a...8? 10? month hiatus since my last proper trail hustle, I wasn't too rusty skill wise, at least for as good as I ever was. 80% maybe? I was also surprised at how unfit I felt!
Perhaps not surprisingly, biggest problem was mini surge and recovery, which I currently do none of on the trainer or on gravel, so I need to find a little bit of MTB time each week.
Would be nice to get into shape and take a crack at an hour flat, maybe on a day and time not filled with hikers.
