A very gentle library book retrieval, while pushing Harvey

Friday Jan 22, 2021 #

Note

Restrictions:

No lifting over 10 lbs for a WEEK. This will be tough; I pick up Harvey all the time!

Nothing strenuous for two days. Then can do more, but backing off if I feel chest pain or anything weird happens.

Thursday Jan 21, 2021 #

Note

Ablation #2 complete. Bit rougher, since it's a bigger poke down in the leg and then they do more up in the heart area, so not as 100_emoji.png as by this time last go around. Doc stopped by; they can now do images that show the pre and post electrical activity, and he stomped it down pretty good. Three months or so to know for certain.

I get out tomorrow morning some time. I want to tinker with some maps; Igor helped me secure .laz files, now I have to decide if I just do proof of concept in OCAD or try to figure out why Steve's process didn't work for me. I assume it was operator error or quirk of windows in parallels, but I haven't retraced my steps yet.

I miss my little Harvey! It's been forever since I've missed seeing him in a day, especially with race season cancelled so no travel. I hear he is taking full advantage of my m-i-l's presence, so he won't miss me too much, hahaha.

Wednesday Jan 20, 2021 #

Note

Discharge papers from today's echo say no strenuous exercise, so the streak ends today. I have some slight padding, plus big plans for after this is all done. First slot at 7 am tomorrow, and then being held overnight, so time to see if I can scrounge up some lidar to tinker with in the massive amount of downtime.

Nice walk around PLRA east of Teggerdine w/ CanMan. Was going to set up O Range, forgot it was not referenced, and then got too behind on time to get it nicely referenced, figured I could do it from the terrain and only goofed once, where I misread two adjacent depressions as parts of the original one.

Temp was great, snow was not a factor in speed or much in grip even. Visibility is massive right now. "We'd be working toward....well, there's the hill way over there, just go to it."

Didn't get the garage car-usable this morning, but got it much improved. Two more hours if I start shoving? I did get a trash can worth out of it, although it needs more removed.

Combination of several factors kept the intended bike ride from happening: Bit too tired in the morning, plus had to get to Ypsi early for the pre procedural cv-19 screening (now spitting and not a nose swab!), then various Harvey wrangling, particularly when he couldn't fall asleep, finally was a bit tired and didn't want to get too sweaty on the bike.

The first 70 minutes aren't too bad, then things start to get a little antsy. There is bargaining..."hit this mile goal, then you can stop", or "just get to 90 minutes, then you can finish the movie from the chair". I pressed on, then it's not as bad after that hump, thought still not as easy as the first 45.

I had forgotten about it! So 24 was shown on TV in the days of 4:3. The DVDs are 16:9, and the DVD makers were not exactly thorough about checking all of the extra zones for extraneous stuff.

In one scene, a woman is supposedly alone in a barn, and then you get some creepy camera dude drifting into frame a little bit, and you're like "character, look out!" and then you see it's probably the camera guy and immersion is ever so slightly broken.

Harvey and I thought about a hike at Maybury, but it was treacherous, so I grabbed a sled from the back of the car and tried to pull him around. Which, to me, sounds awesome, but he wanted to do the swings. Then he wanted to try the trails again but was opinionated on which directions to go. Also, I should keep my studded walking shoes in the car.

Meant to do it earlier, had a setting wrong that I forgot about and couldn't immediately fix/remember, so postponed morning, then later that morning had an AFIB episode and felt lethargic, decided to take a nap and like a light poof out for an embarrassing amount of time.

Chanced an easy ish ride despite some knee discomfort yesterday and today following yesterday's knee bumping fork incident. Was fine during. Maybe will ice during meetings if possible.

Also, I started my 24/7 fitness plan. This is where I watch as much of 24 as I can in order to get fit. I watched the first couple seasons, but my memory is so terrible that it's almost like watching it fresh as I start over.

Originally thought Chilson, but the surprise-to-me snowfall would make it too slow, and I took the kids sledding in the morning, so exploratory bike ride it was.

I think conditions were worse today, or I was more careless. Not too bad, other than a surprise rut that stopped the bike and I took a fork crown to the new, the pain of which shook off after a couple of miles.

I realized I can use a top tube bag for my batteries and make it easy to bring them in for charging.

I chose to dress in a way that if anyone hits me, my family should be able to make a strong case in court that the driver could see me.

Also I got lucky as one of the crank bolts was backing out, but thankfully didn't fall out. Now tightened. Maybe a return visit to that fastener with some light duty lock tite is a good idea...

Wishy washy between basement and outdoors, glad I got out. Lots of slow riding on icy gravel. Didn’t fall, did put a foot down in a puddle when the ice broke and stopped me, and the water depth was more than the height of water proofing, but after a few minutes a wet foot was no biggie.

Found lots of great spots for a future event!

Productive week off.

Basement was messy and cluttered. Hauled out like 12 trash bags and numerous things went on the neighborhood free stuff FB group. Stuff that we moved here, and shouldn't have even had then sort of thing that was hard to get after between grad school and little guy.

Now there is a decent sized play area, and the exercise zone is once more usable.

I am most excited that with a little more work in one of the small offshoot rooms, I can make a small bike repair area. I have to do a couple things on the fleet on the fleet this winter, and it will be far easier to be motivated by being reasonably warm.
