Note

Plus four quality rock sessions over the course of yesterday and today - we are talking, well over the payload capacity of a 2011 Subaru Outback type loads.

Day one, I carried them, which sort of limited our haul because of grip fatigue on the up to 100' treks from the back yard.

Day two I wised up and brought one of Harvey's wagons, so I could just lift onto that and roll. We really got that car loaded up. Thankfully unloading has gravity assist, but it was still quality and has to be done delicately to avoid back or knee strain.

Logistics expert Angel expertly crafted a route that accommodated multiple objectives - hit Barbara's post race mileage target, extensively test the To Hell and Back gpx file, and get me home at a reasonable time.

On the drive out, lightning flashed all over the sort of route area that I could spy west of Ann Arbor, but the roads were fine and we encountered no rain.

We did see several animals - turkey family with a half dozen kids, doe and fawn, sandhill cranes, heron, and a turkey vulture.

That Teahen hill in the last few miles will be brutal to the contestants. I love it!

New hobby, when Harvey isn't with, is spotting people will ignorantly run me over, and then being ready with "wtf man" hand gestures. Today, blue Tacoma never looked to either side leaving the ATM and heading to the road, so that was an easy one to cover brakes and prepare the glare.

Thankfully not as eventful after I picked up Harvey, other than a small dog charging, which would have ended worse for it than us. I got just enough swerve on.

Balance bike skills with Harvs. His slalom improved over yesterday, and he fearlessly rolls off the low curbs by the cultural center. He is certainly in a better place balance wise than I was when I tried to do a pedal bike, although knowing me I have some reluctance until he achieves mastery.

Big tactical error: I was short on time and grabbed the yellow posts. The ground was ROCK HARD and it was impossible to get a good bury of the bottom. Two fell down, one restored by me, one restored by sometimes SMOC customer Linda, who texted Ken about it, wondering if we had forgotten one. Posts otherwise worked well for giving decent access.
