Note

My Roclite 319s arrived. My 295s leave my feet a little tender on extended treks, but my cushy Cascadias don't have enough traction - hopefully this is the best of both. May not use them for Raccoongaine since there's not much time to break 'em in. I would still like to try spikes, but with the Oroc 340 being replaced by a goretex only Oroc 380 at a staggering $180 list, that won't be anytime soon.

I was spooked by the ice I saw on last night's hike, so I stuck to pavement, although it probably would've been okay with today's afternoon temps. For variety, I went up to Brighton, kissed the south end of downtown, then headed over in the general direction of the Green residence before heading home via Hamburg. I overdressed, but at least I got out.

Trying to break in my o nerd goggles for Rage use. Worst case I go back to my old cable temple glasses and tape the one lens.

Merely participating in the Rage sounds less interesting with each day, but racing it sounds more interesting. So I spent the whole time considering what ifs for various changes to last year's execution. Would my prospective team be down for sustained high speed trekking? Will I be in shape to bike tow early and often; would potential recipients be on board with being towed early and often? Will 72 hours of orienteering between Rage #1 and Rage #2 be enough to clean up the mistakes and give a shot at clearing the course? How much more should we push at the start while still having enough left for the end? That sort of thing.

I really wish it was in September again. I want to do more testing first!

Stopped for train lights, then said screw it, I can make it, and went for it.

It helped that it was stopped.

Note

I was looking for a park and ride, saw a potential micro sprint venue, and darned if it wasn't a jail. They have the best building layouts.
