Running 32:26 intensity: (41 @1) + (1:01 @2) + (10:21 @3) + (20:23 @4) 3.71 mi (8:44 / mi) +6m 8:42 / mi
ahr:165 max:175 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

Tried to squeeze in a little car shopping, then was late to make the running group, so I thought I'd book over and try to real in some 3 milers. But I started too late, only caught some walkers and one 5 miler at the turn off point. I should have gone on a more direct intercept, but I can be pedantic about completion.

This tracking is atrocious. I miss you, 305.

Walking 9:43 [1] 0.62 mi (15:42 / mi) +4m 15:23 / mi
ahr:110 max:121 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

back home

Walking 15:28 [1] 0.72 mi (21:32 / mi) +3m 21:15 / mi
ahr:102 max:111 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

So many dog walking options. They are not the speediest critters on the planet. Too much to sniff.

Walking 8:38 intensity: (1:04 @0) + (1:34 @1) + (2:25 @2) + (1:48 @3) + (25 @4) + (1:22 @5) 0.65 mi (13:12 / mi) +1m 13:08 / mi
ahr:146 max:224 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

Walked over to the Run DTP meeting place.

Running 31:16 intensity: (12 @0) + (1:30 @1) + (11:12 @2) + (18:22 @3) 3.1 mi (10:05 / mi) +6m 10:02 / mi
ahr:150 max:163 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

Three mile version. Settled in with a guy recovering from the Freep half and one of the other noobs. 5 and 7 go past the house, but I thought I should ease into it. Plenty of time before the big races.

Walking 9:50 intensity: (1:09 @0) + (8:41 @1) 0.58 mi (17:02 / mi) +4m 16:41 / mi
ahr:109 max:135 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

Walk back, although I stopped because someone was landing a drone, or as they called it when I was a kid, radio controlled helicopter type thing. That thing was crazy stable in the wind.
7 PM

Walking 20:41 intensity: (5:46 @0) + (14:55 @1) 0.87 mi (23:38 / mi) +2m 23:28 / mi
ahr:92 max:114 shoes: Brooks Ghost 5s

Example given of the largely undocumented dog walks now happening in the new digs.

Note

My perception of why the grad student assistants and prof think today's midterm will be no problem and I'm pretty sure it will be a problem:

The prof is like Igor orienteering. He's in the middle of the woods, but he has at least six tricks at his disposal to tell where he is:

* steepness
* lands shape
* vegetation boundaries
* compass
* approximate distance from his last trail/ap
* runnability

I am like a day one noob that ended up in the middle of the Brighton glacial madness. I only know trails and compass, and even those not very well. I can't even see a trail from where I stand, and it also takes 3x as long to trail every thing. I don't know where I am, so the compass isn't helping.

If I fail the test, I'll try to invite the prof to an orienteering meet.
