It'd be interesting to set up some series of orienteering merit badge classes, like 1-2 hrs per week over a few weeks, if for nothing else, than we could point to that if requests came in. Perhaps for some fee, like a mini sports camp. Could be done somewhere like Maybury I think, using the lodge and then that map has enough terrain plus it's close to people's houses.
(Facebook message came in asking to get an o merit badge by 7/15, what did SMOC have to get that to happen.)

Half-hearted first attempt at the missing stick, with Rick.
Everything stacked up so I got there too late. Didn't realize how much of a problem that was until I saw the green she went through. It diminished my hopes. If truly lost in the vicinity of 81, wouldn't be bad. Woods are decent, visibility is decent. If lost leaving the 20 point on either of the first two trail departures....oof. Even on the correct line, no guarantee, and off line...forget it. I will prepare a bill for the contestant.
One wonders about a hunter twist tie on them - then you could at least find them in the dark....

Quick seven after work.
Pickup is more fun than scouting sometimes, because hopefully you’ve put them in decent enough spots and not had to fight through whatever garbage looked fun on paper but didn’t meet expectations in the field.
